Parent’s Love… Always With You

No matter how long ago
Days, months, or many years
Their presence no longer in your life
Can bring some sadness and tears

But also, a tear of joy can fall
As you fondly reminisce
The Love you so dearly felt
Embraced, or a tender kiss

Or maybe they didn’t demonstrate
Their Love, with words or touch
But in your Heart you know the truth
They Loved you, so very much

You were their pride and their joy
All through your young childhood
And as you grew into an adult
Their inner-reflection, now stood

For you are linked in many ways
Not only through your DNA
But the Love and nurture that you felt
Remains in your Heart today

They may have left the physical
But their Energy of Love remains
Walking with you through your life
With all its joys and pains

With you through the celebrations
Births, weddings, and birthdays
Often caught in photographs
As energy orb displays

With you in the quiet times
When they pop into your mind
Wanting to bring you inner peace
Their Love, you can always find

With you when your Heart aches
And when you can take no more
They know you’ll heal in time
Because their Love is in your core

With you at times of success
Proud to be the parent of you
Throughout all your milestones and goals
They were there, to see you through

With you in times of trouble
Worry, stress, and strife
Their compassion and support
Always with you, through your life

For we are not just physical
But Eternal Beings of Love
Growing through our Earthly lives
Linked always below and above

Sharing and experiencing all of life
With our Soul group, we walk
And if we open-up our Heart
To the other side we can talk

Always with you… in your Heart
Always with you… every day
Always with you… in Loving Energy
Always with you… they will stay

Always with you, and especially
They await your presence above
One day in time you’ll be together
To reminisce your lives of Love

They will be there on that day
Excited to embrace, and you’ll see
When you transition to the other side
They were always with you, in Love Energy

Trina Graves – 16th October 2019

About This Poem

I wrote this poem for my Dad’s 83rd birthday (on 18th October), I made it into a small book that also contained pictures of his parents. My grandmother Evelyn died in 1967, aged 60, and my grandfather James in 1999, aged 85. I was only six when my nanny died, but I have fond memories of her because we lived next door, so were able to be with her often. I was given the name Evelyn (middle name) and I know I am like her in many ways. I have always felt a closeness to her throughout the years, and I know she is with me often too.

The idea for the poem was given to me (from Spirit) and I instantly knew it would be perfect to write for my Dad. My Mum has always been the ‘Spiritual’ one of my parents, but my Dad is unsure of such matters, so I do like to share my views with him, especially as a way of hopefully opening the door – just a little, if he’s willing – for him to see the Light that can shine through.

Although this poem is about ‘parental’ love, I believe that it is really true about any love relationship and of course, for me it rings true about my grandparents and me too.

Evelyn was a doting mother and grandmother and easily showed her love, but James was very reserved, due to the times he lived in and his very hard upbringing, which is why there is a verse on not physically demonstrating love.

If this poem was not written especially for my Dad, I would have also included some verses to talk of those parents who were not present in the child’s physical life, or who might have physically or mentally mis-treated their child. I would have said: no matter what happens in any family relationship, on the Higher or Spiritual level the conditions gone through were pre-chosen by both Souls and at the core of it all there is only love, which will be revealed when united at death. I can now see I need to write another poem to cover this! 🙂

Although it was not written as a ‘sympathy’ poem, I believe that it is certainly a part of this category, so I will include it with my other Sympathy Poems.

Parent's Love.. Always With You - by Trina Graves - Spiritual Quotes To Live By
My paternal grandparents James & Evelyn (late 1950’s)

Today’s Father

The Father of today
Is free to take his role
In any direction he wants
He can set his own goal

Fathers of the past
Were shackled to society
Having to always fit in
Blinkered from other ways to be

Not allowed at the birth
No sharing of the nurturing
Only some playing allowed
But all the money to bring

Slowly change crept in
Allowing Father participation
Opening the floodgates of truth
Love: the heart’s revelation

Taking an active role
Feeding, changing and cuddling
Fully supporting a newborn Soul
Opens the heart to truly sing

Continuing to learn together
Through the years never truly apart
Helps balance the dual energies
Spiritual growth will impart

About This Poem

After writing Father: The Changing Role’ I knew I wanted to write another poem about Fathers to also depict how the change has worked to bring more balance to the male energy. We all contain both male and female energy, but in the past the male energy has been way too dominant in many men. I believe becoming a father is a chance to experience a love that can break the cycle of the past and attune to a new way of being.

Much Love, Light & Blessings to all the Father’s everywhere: in physical, in Spirit and especially those who take on the nurturing role of father to those children who were not born to them.

Happy Father’s Day!

quote from poem: Today's Father by Trina Graves - Spiritual Quotes To Live By
My son and his newborn daughter (1997)

Father: The Changing Role

Each generation brings change
To all the roles of family
As each new unit forms
Different ways are clear to see

We are moulded by the experiences
Shaped in our early childhood
Our parents views of their roles
Became the truth we understood

Different families merge
In life, their ways and goals
May differ, so children change
Their perception to new roles

Also, over time societies grip
Has loosened its stranglehold
Now more people are fully aware
They don’t have to fit to the mould

In my grandfathers generation
Men had to be hard and strong
Physically and emotionally
Showing emotion deemed to be wrong

Financially supporting their family
Through all the trouble and strife
War an ever-present reality
Burying emotion was a fact of life

And now three generations later
The change and growth is clear to see
My son and nephews, many fathers
Demonstrating devotion to their family

Expressing words of love to their children
Cuddling and kissing even into adulthood
It’s beautiful to see and know
The role of father has changed for the good

The two generations in-between
My father and brothers are a part
Of this great change I perceive
As love worked to open their heart

Through the years it continues on
Working it’s way in both directions
The younger and older generations
Continue to grow in love perceptions

About This Poem

With Father’s Day approaching I wanted to write something new for the day. It’s easy for me to write a poem for Mothers as I have the experience of being one, but obviously I do not know what it is like to be a Father! I can only write from the perspective of the father relationships that I know of in my family.

My son has the most beautiful relationship I know of for a father and daughter. His relationship with her mother didn’t last more than a few months into her life, but he was able to regularly have his daughter stay over. Interestingly, this was due to the lack of contact her mother had with her father who had left when she was little, so she wanted her daughter to have a father in her life.

My granddaughter is now in her twenties and lives quite far away, but she always comes to stay with her dad several times during the year. It is so wonderful to see how close they are: talking about anything and everything, and doing things together. Obviously, as she gets older and hopefully begins a family of her own she won’t have as much time for her dad, but I know the bond they share will always be there, no matter what.

quote from poem by Trina Graves - Father: The Changing Role - Spiritual Quotes To Live By

A Father’s Role

A Father’s role for his daughter
Is so important and crucial too
She constantly learns so much from him
He is a guide, her whole life through

I was Blessed with you as my Father
God knew the grander, greater plan
Bringing us together for this life
For this role, there could be no other man

The early years were a testing time
As your family developed and grew
I was also beginning to learn, many
Lessons in love and life from you

You’d grown up in another era of time
When men demonstrating love was frowned upon
Of course love was felt, but it was not shown to all
Unchallenged, these family concepts can linger on

There were times that I felt a bit awkward
I didn’t show my love and affection for you
But now I know, this was just a life challenge
Now achieved, Love has not limits, it’s true

There are some things we don’t agree upon
But as I grew up, you would listen to me
Not judging or pushing your own opinions
You’ve given me strength to be who I want to be

Life brought us closer together for many years
Working in the office of your family business G&G
The values I learnt from spending time with you
Were also there for anyone else, who chose to see

Leadership, Loyalty, Strength, Courage, Compassion
Hard-Working, you gave much more than just a wage
Sharing: Achievements, Celebrations, Possessions
Caring for all, you taught lessons that never age

Another valuable life experience you have shown
Is how to rise up after you’ve taken a fall
Life has knocked you down on the ground many times
But you always get up, carry on and succeed to do more

Your Positive attitude is a wonderful thing
You’re always friendly to everyone around
Giving help to anyone who needs it always
Your generous support, so many have found

I have discovered that life is supposed to be fun
It is the essential way to live and be free
From you I could have learned this many years ago
Sport has always been your fun-time, it’s plain to see

Coffee shops and crosswords became a thing
While together we waited for mum to mend
Missing her presence, these passed the time
Once home, mum carried on with the trend

And now that I am living just down the road
Again we get to share some more precious time
Drinking coffee and putting the world to right
Sharing and caring makes everything fine

Please know that I will always be there for you
Our Love is Eternal, so it will never end
Thank you for everything you do.. You are
My precious Father, My Support, My Friend

Trina Graves – June 2015 (Fathers Day)

About This Poem

With Father’s Day coming up at the weekend, I am sharing one of my personal family poems, but I still hope it can be enjoyed by others. It starts off mentioning a Father’s Role for his daughter because I am the only daughter, with three brothers. My Father also had no sister’s only two brothers, so a young female in his family was a new experience for him.

As you can see this was written for my father four years ago. Unfortunately, I no longer live ‘just down the road’ but I visit as often as I can. I know both my parents miss not having me living so close, but they know if they ever need me I will be there.

This week I have written two more ‘Father’ poems – Father: The Changing Role and Today’s Father. I will add them both over the weekend.

quote from poem: A Father's Role by Trina Graves of Spiritual Quotes To Live By

The Heavenly Birth

Christmas is the time we celebrate the birth
Of the Son of God brought down to our Earth
A Pure, Unique Master-Being from Heaven above
Sent to guide through all Eternity with Divine Love

His birth is a wondrous story, enchantingly told
Mother Mary young and pure, a heart of gold
Visited by an Angel with Heavenly praise
“The Son of God, you and Joseph shall raise”

Joseph’s character was obviously strong and good
Although not the true father, he declared he would
Unite with Mary and become the dad
To love and support the growing lad

The story unfolds with drama and suspense
To Bethlehem they travelled, the journey immense
For heavily pregnant Mary, arriving on a donkey
Needing a place to give birth, to be a sanctuary

With everywhere full, the only place to stay
Was in a stable, with a manger to lay
The newborn baby, the Heavenly King
Now present on Earth, Enlightenment to bring

A brilliant sign heralded the birth
Notable enough for many to seek it’s worth
Kings or wisemen, and even shepherds too
The Heavenly star shone to guide them through

Each came with praise and a gift to give
Knowing the Son of God was here to live
A physical life, even from a baby so small
Showing a connection to God, available to all

***

Everyone has their own personal belief
And I do not wish to cause anyone grief
But we all decide how much of this tale is true
Our perceptions give us our own unique view

I asked for guidance before beginning to write
Asking to share some loving Christmas ‘Light’
What came to me at that moment, for what it’s worth
Is the Divine importance of every single human birth

Jesus grew up knowing he was God’s Son
No limits were placed, He was the One
Sent to Earth to share true Love Divine
And through eternity, boundless by time

With no restrictions to cause Him doubt
He grew to share God’s Love throughout
His life while here upon this Earth
All starting with that momentous birth

If the King of Kings can be born in a stable
What of other births? We should be able
To see the wisdom and Light showing us the way
To celebrate the truth of births each and every day

For all mothers are pure with hearts of gold
And fathers if present, strong and bold
Each one is doing the best they can do
Which is all that God asks of you

No matter where the birth will take place
The Divine is there, but you won’t see a trace
Lowly or regal, it matters not who you are
Beings of Love and Light come from afar

They come to witness the transition of a Soul
On it’s journey to Earth to learn to be whole
In physical form, the journey it takes
To become Aware as the Spirit Awakes

For every single baby contains God in their heart
Illuminating so brightly right from the start
If we placed no limits or doubts in their minds
Their genuine Divine Presence in life we would find

Trina Graves – 8th December 2016

About This Poem

In December 2016, after writing my first ever Christmas poem Christmas Through The Family’ to be used for my Christmas cards, I had no intention of writing another that year.

A few days later I decided to do my next quote poem (back then I only added my poems to my website: Spiritual Quotes To Live By). I had a list of quotes in my notebook on my desk, so I switched off the computer (no distractions) and got ready to write… but then I could not find the notebook! I searched the desk (there was not a lot on it) but still couldn’t find it, even though I knew I had seen it. ‘Weird’ I thought!

However, knowing from experience that once I prayed and asked for guidance I would receive whatever I needed, I let go of the mystery and went to the kitchen to get a glass of water. On returning to my desk… there was the notebook so clearly in view!!! I laughed and knew that I was not meant to write a quote poem. So, I asked for guidance, now thinking, perhaps something else for Christmas?

I knew then that it would be a poem about the importance of births and would start with the birth of Jesus. But, I was quite surprised that the whole nativity story just flowed out.

Three Women’s Love

This poem was written for my dad on his birthday.

Evelyn was the very first
With a love so strong and pure
A mother’s love is limitless
Continuing on forever more

Doreen’s love has been steadfast
As girlfriend, fiancee and beloved wife
You’ve shared so much over the years
With all the ups and downs of life

Trina, your only daughter
Has loved you all her days
Being together changes over time
But the closeness always stays

Love comes in different forms
In many ways it is shown
It’s what life is all about
Through love we all have grown

These three women of your life
Will always shower you in love
Whether here on this Earth
Or from the Heavens above

Trina Graves – 18th October 2017

About This Poem

As you can see from the date of this poem it was written a year ago today. As mentioned above, I wrote it for my dad to go inside his birthday card. Today he is 82 and I have just got home from visiting him and my mum. Yesterday I wrote another poem that sort of continued on from this one called: Three Sons – To Be Proud. I am not sure yet if I will be sharing that one though as there is a lot of personal information about my brothers in it, so I need their permission first.

I used to only occasionally write poems for my parents on their birthdays, anniversary or mother’s/father’s day, but over the years they have come to look forward to what they call my special cards. I always include some sort of family photo arrangement which they always love too.

Letter From Your Newborn

Dear Mummy and Daddy,
No matter what happens between us, during my childhood I will love you unconditionally.

You are my guide, my support, my lifetime anchor…
for whatever becomes of me depends on our time together.

From you I will learn what love is. I will learn to be confident or shy, giving or selfish, loving or cruel.
I will learn what is right and wrong, who I should respect and whether I should love and respect myself.

As I come into this world, into your tender care, I am a pure, clean sponge. I will soak up every look, every touch, every thought, every word, every feeling and they will mould me into the person that I will become.

So in the days, weeks, months and years ahead – please remember that – every thought, feeling, word, touch, and look… I will absorb.

If you treat me with love, caring, respect, tolerance, forgiveness and understanding – even when I do things wrong – then I will grow up into a kind, considerate, confident, loving, responsible, happy child and adult.

But if you treat me with intolerance, uncaring, harshness, words of anger and neglect…
I will be… sad.

Trina Graves – 22nd December 1997

About This Poem

This was my first poem, apart from the words I wrote in 1993 (see: About This Blog). I wrote it the day my first grandchild was born on 22nd December 1997. I sat to write some words for the congratulations card to my son and his girlfriend, but instead these words just flowed out. I never gave it to them, but just filed it away!

Back then I had not heard of the Law Of Attraction, so I was amazed many years later when I pulled it out and found I had been writing about it so long before. Also, in the past few years I have been reading the work of people like scientist Bruce Lipton who now teach that children do indeed absorb everything, with no filters, for the first six years.

Update October 2019
This poem written on the day my first granddaughter (Jessica) was born, almost 22 years ago, now flows with a wonderful synchronicity: Jessica is now at University training to become a midwife!

Jessica also knows of the Law Of Attraction, and is interested in all things Spiritual! She has a beautiful personality, full of compassion and caring, so I know she will make an amazing midwife one day.

The cycle of life in a letter!
I received the inspiration and wrote the letter on the day of her birth – the words were very meaningful for both of our lives, and her parents – and now as an adult, she is aiming to be delivering newborns into the world! And I’m sure will be bringing her ‘Light’ to all those whose life she ‘touches.’
