God Is Communicating With Us All The Time

Title Quote: Neale Donald Walsch

God is all around us and eventually
If you open your mind you will see
The little things that show He is there
Whenever we need an answer to a prayer

Know that He will answer, if you wait
Have faith that He will communicate
Be open to His wisdom everywhere you glance
For nothing that happens in life is by chance

Quite unexpectedly one day
It may come in something you hear or say
Just listening to the radio or watching TV
You’ll realize that this was meant to be

The answer may just drift into your mind
God has many helpers who are always kind
You may hear a whisper into your ear
To let you know that God is always near

The answer may take you by surprise
God is communicating right before your eyes
The slightest little thing can happen at any time
You have to be open to see the sign

He will always answer it’s plain to see
For God loves us all unconditionally

Trina Graves – 1st November 2001

About This Poem

The ‘Conversations With God’ books by Neale Donald Walsch really resonated with me and struck a deep chord with my Inner-Knowing, so even the concepts that I had not come across before I took on, and began to understand their truth also.

In 2001 I had written just a few poems, but I thought it would be a great idea to write some more using some of the Core Concepts of the Conversations With God: Book One  as the title and theme. This Concept attracted my attention because I had been noticing signs in answer to my questions for several years, so it was an easy one to write about.

The picture below I put together today. It was an easy choice of which photograph I should use, even though I have used it many times before! This dandelion was the first photograph I took that really opened my eyes and heart to nature, so for me it was a sure sign from Source in May 2010.

The Most Perfect Prayer

Title Quote: Gotthold Ephraim Lessing

Prayers are said the world over
In a variety of different ways
Many pleading for assistance
To ease their saddened days

Most are taught as little children
Prayers to say before they sleep
Generations passing down words
Children’s Souls, they aim to keep

For some, prayers are repeated
Words they learned ‘off by heart’
Repetition brings them soothing relief
Releasing thought right from the start

Even those who do not believe
In the existence of a Greater Power
Will ‘pray’ in their own way to receive
Throughout life, a Blessings Shower

Whatever you’re version of prayer
I respect your truth and your way
I, like all, have my own beliefs
I follow my own path, wherever it lay

In deepest truth there is no right or wrong
The intention of the prayer is the key
Our beliefs throughout life are just perfect
In each moment, for who we came to be

Prayers are uttered to many ‘Gods’
Time and religion changes the name
But in Essence, they are all One
And we too, are of the same

One single grateful thought raised
To Heaven is the most perfect prayer
Feeling the prayer is already answered
Will manifest blessings everywhere

Like many I believe that Gratitude
Appreciating all my Blessings each day
Is the ultimate communication of prayer
Thankfulness felt in every word I say

I Commune with the Forces-Of-Creation
The All-That-Is, Source-Energy of Love
I surrender my Heart and Soul to the flow
And unite my own Light with God above

Trina Graves – 25th September 2017

About This Poem

Although I used the quote from Gotthold Ephraim Lessing (1729 – 1781)

One Single Grateful Thought Raised To Heaven Is The Most Perfect Prayer.’

for the title of this poem, I also wanted to incorporate a quote from Gregg Braden (1954) I heard years ago watching one of his videos, that really stuck with me.

‘Feel The Feeling As Though The Prayer Has Already Been Answered,
And In That Feeling We Are Speaking To The Forces Of Creation,
Allowing The World To Respond To Us.’

Change The Way You Look At Things – And The Things You Look At Change

Title Quote: Wayne Dyer

No matter what you look upon
Whether physical or not
Your thoughts and beliefs have control
And show you what you’ve got

Do you look at your past with regret
Wishing you’d done so much more?
Or do you look back with understanding
Knowing expansion’s what you came for?

Do you worry about your future life?
There’s so much in the world to hate
Or do you view the world you see
With abundance of beauty to appreciate?

Do you spend your time each day
Rushing from here to there?
Or do you do your best to live
Mindful of the moments you share

Walking with Mother Nature in your view
So much can be seen as all the same
But open your eyes and heart to reveal
Nature’s awesomeness in every frame

Relationships come, but they can go
Leaving us lost and maybe in a rage
But every relationship teaches us more
About life as we let go and turn the page

Parents, Teachers, Employers, Spouse
Throughout life many have us under their control
Or do they just influence our attitude
As we are free to choose our own role

When a loved one passes on in death
We can grieve greatly and shed many a tear
Or choose to focus on all the love we shared
Knowing full-well they are always near

The Law of Attraction rules our world
With our every thought we do create
Whatever you put your attention on
Returns to you, it will always cooperate

Whatever experiences we face in life
Improvement we can always arrange
Change The Way You Look At Things
And The Things You Look At Change

Trina Graves – 27th November 2016

About This Poem

This is one of Wayne Dyer’s most popular quotes and one of my favourites too. It is such a wonderful quote because of it’s simplicity and absolute truth. Once you know and understand it you can apply it to everything in life.

We Only Part To Meet Again (2)

Title Quote: John Gay

The very first time we had to depart
We don’t remember, but it’s deep in our heart
We left our true home up above
Coming to Earth to create joy and love

All too soon as a child we face the loss
Our parents leave us and we get cross
It’s a vital early lesson we learn then
We Only Part To Meet Again

As the years go by friendships do too
Some people have many, others a few
Romances are another tug at the heart
When often we have to be apart

Leaving our parents is a parting we make
It’s a difficult step for each side to take
Mothers especially feel the loss, but then
We Only Part To Meet Again

All these partings that through life go on
Show us that we can survive and be strong
Separating can hurt for a time, but we must
Let go and move on, in faith and trust

All of us one day will make the journey back
Leaving our bodies, no clothes to pack
They’ll be rejoicing from many in Heaven when
We Only Part To Meet Again

Trina Graves – 25th November 2016

About This Poem

This was one of the times that when I had completed a poem using a quote as the title and theme and felt I wanted to write another but from a different perspective.

The first poem – We Only Part To Meet Again (1) –  I wrote for my family and friends, hoping that when my time comes to leave this Earthly life they will be able to read my words and feel uplifted by them. But, I am aware that the words I share also give meaning to others who read them too.

Before writing this second poem I hadn’t given any thought to all the partings we experience throughout our lives, but of course, these are only physical partings because in reality we are never truly apart.. for we are all ONE.

The Eyes Of Source

Title Quote: Abraham-Hicks

Nature is so awesome
Its beauty is beyond compare
It’s everything natural around us
Always willing of itself to share

From a tiny little seed
A mighty tree can grow
From such small beginnings
Strength and beauty it can show

With love and appreciation in your heart
Just take a look around you and see
The abundance of natures forms
Its silent miracle is the key

Open your heart and open your eyes
To the wonders all around
Nature’s always there, waiting patiently
Until the Eyes Of Source you have found

Beauty and perfection can be seen
In the smallest, simplest flower
Just living, growing, adapting, changing, being
Its message can bring such power

Love is what you really are
It’s the truest abundance of wealth
Looking at the world through The Eyes Of Source
You are being your true self

Trina Graves – July 2012

About This Poem

Looking ‘Through The Eyes Of Source’ is one of my favourite quotes from Abraham-Hicks as it gives an easy reminder of the ultimate perception of everything we see.

As you can see, I wrote this poem in 2012, but years later when I was going through my poems to add them to my website (Spiritual Quotes To Live By) I decided not to use this one but instead to write another using the same quote.  At that time I had recently gone for a walk locally and been so awestruck with the simple beauty surrounding me and one tree in particular had literally brought tears to my eyes! so writing the newer version was easy to do: Through The Eyes Of Source is one of my favourites of my poems as for me it brings back the memory of that walk.

Although this poem was originally called Through The Eyes Of Source, I have edited the title to differentiate between the two poems.

Switch To High Beam

We’ve been arriving steadily as planned
Each year our numbers grow strong
As each generation brings forth more
Lighted Souls, on Earth we will throng

Yes, it’s true all Souls are Lighted
The All-That-Is is part of us all
But some Lights are buried so deep
Hidden from sight they flicker so small

We’ve come with a pure Inner Knowing
That Love is the only true way to be
No matter the way of the world
Unconditional Love we want all to see

Growing up we tended to stand out
Not necessarily in a ‘good’ way
Our truth made us seem to shout
“Look at me, I’ve something to say!”

We’ve come to change the system
Ingrained in all those who sleep
Through life, by following the herd
The status quo they unknowingly keep

For we have been ruled for millennia
By an elite force who’ve had control
Of everything in life we seem to need
They cast a veil over the sleeper’s Soul

These ‘Elite’ are the ones whose Lights
Are buried so deep down within
They’ve craved and perpetuated negativity
And praised all misfortune and sin

They’ve controlled in a myriad of ways
Their fingers were in all the pots
Religion, media, education, government
Medicine and money: they’ve called the shots

But now the tsunami has changed
The wave of Love and Light is a pure force
Much more powerful than the dark
We’re prepared and set on our course

The time has come for us all
To shine our Lights like never before
This is the reason we came here
Wayshowers to open the bedroom door

Some sleepers are just only napping
Turning on our Light will bring them Awake
But others so deep in their slumber
Will balk from the nightmare of mistake

Our Loving Light will gently ease them
As they finally stretch and open their eyes
Learning they really do have the power
And releasing all established believed lies

Switch To High Beam Beloved Lightworkers
Let’s finally Light up this world and ignite
The Soul Light in all others to truly shine
For United our future sparkles Star-Bright

Trina Graves – 20th September 2018

About This Poem

After posting my last poem, Nothing Is By Chance, I had a lovely comment from Amira (BodyAndSoulNourishmentBlog) who I have been very much synchronistically aligned with since she started posting my poems several months ago. As I was writing my reply to her comment, I knew that what I was writing would make a very good theme for a poem.

“Another point that made me go ahead and share this one is that Blossom’s messages teach that we ‘Lightworkers’ will be needed when everything comes to light about what has been truly going on. In the confusion of those who were in the dark, our lights must shine to show the way – it’s what we came here for. And it makes sense not to wait till the last minute to turn on our light.”

The amazing thing is that this has happened several times before in our comments back and forth! And as the last poems states.. Nothing Is By Chance, so I got on straight away with writing it. The words flowed quickly – apart from having to stop to check on the precise definition of some words to ensure I was using them correctly. I always find this part so fascinating as words that I don’t normally use come to my mind and I think I know the definition, but check to make sure, and find they are a perfect fit!

I had the title ‘Shine Your Light’ at the start, but after writing it I wanted to emphasize that it’s now time for us to shine even brighter, so I changed it to ‘Switch To Full Beam.’ However, something led me to check the definition of ‘full beam’ and I discovered it is a British term and the American is ‘high beam,’ so that seemed a better fit!

Nothing Is By Chance

Title Quote: Eileen Caddy

Why do the ‘bad’ things happen
Causing shedding of many tears?
Atrocities, neglect, futile wars
Still going on throughout the years

Why are innocent little babies born
With problems right at the very start?
Or ‘lost’ even before the first breath
Breaking open their parents heart

Why do some people have to struggle
Through a life of torment and dread?
For them nothing ever seems to go right
Poverty and debt looms over many a head

Why do fatal diseases like cancer
Exponentially continue to grow?
While cures are available, but not used
Unless you’re alternatively ‘in the know’

Karma is one of the reasons
For challenges we all must face
But, we make the choice before birth
To learn with experience and good grace

For our Souls are on an eternal journey
To experience and grow through life
Reincarnating in a myriad of roles
We need it all, including the strife

The Law Of Attraction is also paramount
An all-encompassing force, a powerful magnet
Negativity or positivity breeds and grows
Claiming all thoughts and beliefs that fit

We are powerful Spiritual Beings
Radiating our energy all of the time
Absorbing others emotional rays
Can lead us to love or even to crime

Together we can unite our strength
Experiments have proved in the past
Groups of people meditating on peace
Plummets crime, a true love blast!

As a species we are Awakening
To the extent of our true power
At long last The Light is toppling
The Dark’s encompassing prison tower

The Illuminate-elite have finally lost the war
They have raged through countless years
Controlling and manipulating us all
By producing lies and illusions of fears

Their grip on our lives has been brutal
Overshadowing from the cradle to the grave
Now knowing we are pure Souls of Light
We no longer submit to be their slave

The rocky days ahead may be tough
As their ghastly deeds all spill out
But nip in the bud any anger or revenge
Compassionate forgiveness needs to be felt

For in the grand old scheme of it all
There has to be those to play the part
Of the ‘bad’ guys, for the good to rise
So love them all unconditionally from your heart

Trina Graves – 17th September 2018

About This Poem

Well, Nothing Is By Chance… but this poem took me totally by surprise!

I wanted to write a poem so I chose a quote that jumped out at me from my long list. As I made myself a coffee and toast, I began to think of how it would shape and knew it would obviously be about coincidences and synchronicity. Not wanting to start writing without my usual prayer of thankfulness and asking for guidance, I first checked my emails while I had my breakfast, which led me to read a few articles from a blog I had been sent a link to a couple of days previously (remember Nothing Is By Chance!)

Years ago I followed many blogs etc.. that dealt with the dominating elite of our world, of how we are controlled and manipulated. But, I eventually realized that as I chose to focus my attention on the positive I had to let go of keeping the wrong-doings so fully in my sight. The only blog I continue to follow, from back then, is Blossom Goodchild because her channellings from The Federation Of Light are so full of love and upliftment and sing so true to me. And it was a link from Blossom that led me to the blog of Deus Nexus. I read the article she linked to about observatories closing and began to browse the blog. I immediately realized it was the type of site I used to follow, containing all the latest news about what is going on, but there was also a balance of ‘good’ stuff too, so I went to take a look at the ‘About’ page. There I read the poem ‘Consider A Tree’ by David Nova (the author of the blog) and I immediately knew this was a synchronistic link. The poem is so beautiful (please do read it) I just had to ask if I could share it on my Spiritual Quotes To Live By site. (permission was granted)

From their I found that David is the author of a metaphysical fiction series, so I checked Amazon and read the beginning of his first novel and was hooked! So I bought it. I haven’t had a lot of time for reading since then, so I am only a few chapters in, but it is very intriguing.

So, because of this synchronistic link the darker side had crept back to my attention.

Going back to the creation of this poem..
After praying for guidance and visualizing the completed poem ‘out there’ uplifting people around the world, I got ready to write… I read the quote again and thought of coincidences, but nothing came to my mind, which is very unusual for me. I read the quote again and thought, ‘What am I going to write?!!!’ And the questions of the first four verses flowed quickly. As I was writing them I was thinking this is way too negative! – I try not to have anything negative in my poems unless it is really needed to tell the story or help explain a concept. But, I knew that as there were questions, I would go on to answer them.

The answer verses followed easily but then I was writing about the ‘dark side’ in more detail than I would like. I finished the poem and didn’t even bother to print it out, I just let it go, thinking it was all too negative. Usually when I am not happy with a poem I continue straight on to write another with the same quote, I was thinking this would be so easy to do with this one, as I already knew I could write about coincidences. However, nothing flowed, so I gave up.

The following day I had another attempt to write a poem with the same quote, but still nothing!  It was interesting that I just couldn’t seem to get the words for a quote that I knew I could write so much about! So, I re-read the first one and gave it some thought…

If I truly believe – and I do – that ‘Nothing Is By Chance‘ – then I was supposed to write this poem and not one about coincidences.  And, if I truly believe in what I wrote – and I do – then I should share it… negativity and all!

By the way, because of the way this one developed, I also believe that once this poem is published I will easily write another using the same quote.. so watch out for that one too!

You Are The Creator Of Your Own Life Experience

Title Quote: Abraham-Hicks

The Law of Attraction is becoming well known
We are all searching for the way
To bring more joy and love to our lives
To appreciate each and every day

You are the creator of your own life experience
Can be difficult at first to take on
‘How can that be true for me,’ most would say
‘I wouldn’t create everything in my life that’s gone wrong’

But the Law of Attraction is a powerful force
Which we apply just by our thought
It knows no difference, yes or no are the same
So everything to your life you have brought

Always remember a positive thought
Is more stronger than a negative one
And keep on reaching for better thoughts
This ‘work’ is on-going, it’s never done

It doesn’t matter what’s happened in your past
All that matters is this moment right now
By accepting yourself where you are
You can go on to create a life that will – Wow

To create the beautiful life of your dreams
Just focus on following your bliss
If you let go and are open to let it all flow
‘Coincidental’ opportunities you will not miss

Each day bring your focus on all
The love, joy and beauty around
Live each moment with inner peace
And Heaven on Earth you will have found

Trina Graves – 12th May 2011

About This Poem

I have learned and come to understand how the Law Of Attraction works mostly through the teachings of Abraham-Hicks, which is why I am drawn to using their quotes as titles and themes of my poems. This quote is one that that many find hard to get their head around when first hearing of the Law Of Attraction, and needs full understanding to implement into everyday life.

By giving attention to anything you don’t like, or want, in your life, you are actually going to bring yourself more of the same! Of course, it’s impossible to never think of, or see anything you don’t like, but by being aware of your thoughts and feelings about things, enables you to choose whether to continue with the thought or change it to something that feels better. In fact, knowing what you don’t want, is kind of essential to knowing what you do want, just don’t spend too much time on the negative!

The View

This poem was written for my parents 60th Wedding Anniversary earlier this year.

With family and friends around
On a March day you were bound
Together, young and in love
Blessed in church by God above

You vowed to always stay together
Through sunshine and stormy weather
Life would throw all aspects at you
But your love would pull you through

Now sixty years have gone by
Speeding time does surely fly
And here you are together still
After surmounting many a-rocky hill

Standing steadfast where you are
From that hill-top you can see far
You’ve created a spectacular view
With the love that came from you

Generations have blossomed and grown
From the love that you have sown
Each a blessing, flowering in your light
Ever present, ever bright

Scattered around you, each flower grows
All different: cosmos, forget-me-not, rose
Beautiful blooms growing strong
Seeding more as time moves on

Some little buds don’t really know you are there
Watching over them because you care
But still, you send them your light and love
From your vantage point on the hill above

God bless you for all you’ve done
Creating the view since your love begun
Now rest and enjoy the outstanding view
Eternal love and blessings, to you two

Trina Graves – 20th March 2018

About This Poem

As mentioned above, I wrote this for my parents 60th Wedding Anniversary on 22nd March 2018. As with all couples they’ve had their ups and downs throughout the years but have remained steadfast in their love to see them through.

Below is the front of the card I made for them (with the poem inside) showing their four children, nine grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. As I am sure with most families, as they grow and expand out into the world the early closeness with grandparents changes as lives move on with another generation. Get-togethers don’t happen as often so great-grandchildren don’t know their great-grandparents as well as they know their grandparents. But, the great-grandparents always love to hear about and see (if only pictures) all of their little blossoms.

When They Placed You In My Arms

Title Quote: When They Placed You In My Arms,
You Slipped Into My Heart. (Unknown)

When they placed you in my arms
For the first time after your birth
Is my most precious memory
Of my life here on this Earth

After endless months of waiting
Anxious that all would be well
Relief mixed with anticipation
As I floated under your spell

My love for you had grown stronger
Each day through pregnancy
In that moment it exploded
Awakening the Core of me

I gazed tenderly into your eyes
Then mine watered with a tear
The pure bliss of the moment
As I embraced you, my dear

The weight of your little body
As I held you close and tight
Feeling your physical presence
Sensing your true Spirit Light

The warmth of your precious form
Now tangible at long last
Melted time’s candle to me
You became my future and my past

The sheer miracle of life
I possessed in my arms
Blessed always to be
Captivated by your charms

When they placed you in my arms
You slipped into my heart
Through Eternity we are bound
Entwined Souls to never part

Trina Graves – 24th February 2017

About This Poem

As I say in this poem (and have mentioned before) this is my most treasured memory and is what I recall whenever I want to feel a strong sense of love and upliftment, it never fails to bring a smile to my face and warmth in my heart.

We Only Part To Meet Again (1)

Title Quote: John Gay

When my time comes to leave
I really do truly believe
The goodbyes may be hard, but then
We Only Part To Meet Again

I will leave my overcoat behind
No use to me anymore because I’ll find
Expansion, Freedom, Unlimited Love
When my Spirit is released to the up above

It might be easier for you to think of me
As gone on a journey across the sea
To a far away land as in times gone by
Before inventions enabled us to fly

Although we won’t be able to phone
You can still reach me when you’re alone
In Love and Peace, Uplifted in your heart
It will be as though we were never apart

Have an Uplifted Open mind and I’ll be there
The Energy of Love means we can share
Think of what to say to me and you will find
I can talk to you through thoughts in your mind

Remember me by the love we shared
And know for you I always deeply cared
Our love goes on through all Eternity
So together forever we will always be

Trina Graves – 24th November 2016

About The Poem

I love to write uplifting sympathy poems as I have no doubt whatsoever that we continue on, so I want to share my beliefs with whoever is drawn to my words. None of us know when our last breath will be (in this life) and so I also want to leave words of love and spiritual wisdom for my family and friends when my time comes to go home. This quote from John Gay (1695 – 1732) fitted perfectly for my more personal words.

I write poems using quotes for my Spiritual Quotes To Live By website and sometimes after finishing a poem I know there is more for the quote and write another, which is why the title has a (1). I will share the other poem at a later date.

Human Beings Can Alter Their Lives

Title Quote: William James
Human Beings Can Alter Their Lives By Altering Their Attitude Of Mind

If there is anything in your life
That you would like to change
What is going on in your mind
Is what you need to re-arrange

For it is the thoughts you think
That always creates your reality
Bound with powerful emotions
You attract everything you see

Continued thoughts become beliefs
The attraction will speed up fast
What you believe is true for you
Will manifest as if a spell is cast

Your thoughts, beliefs and emotions
Consistently shape the life you live
So there’s an aspect to consider
Are they positive or negative?

To work out which is the one
Isn’t always simple to decide
So does it feel good to you?
Your emotions are your guide

Everyone has negative thoughts
But the key is not to linger there
Use them as helpful stepping stones
Along your path to become Aware

By focusing on your thoughts
And realising some are negative
Lets you know what you don’t want
So you can find a better alternative

To change those negative thoughts
When faced with trouble and pain
Find a thought that feels a little better
It’s an easy way to relieve the strain

If you can continue to always look
For the thought that feels better to you
Your vibration will incessantly rise higher
Lifting you up and getting you through

Keeping positive as much as possible
Helps you to feel good every day
You then radiate your beneficial energy
To everyone, in what you do and say

You’ll attract all the good things in life
Love, beauty, wisdom and happiness
Appreciating simple wonders each day
You will feel so Heavenly Blessed

Your thoughts, beliefs and emotions
Are the devices with which you create
And to bring an abundance of the joys
You need to give thanks and appreciate

Whatever you experience in this life
Your attitude is one of these aspects
Positive or negative, train of thought
From your mind, your world reflects

Trina Graves – 11th Dec 2016

About This Poem

Along with William James (1842 – 1910) other well-known people throughout history have been consistently teaching us how our lives are shaped by our thoughts and attitude…

All that we are is a result of what we have thought.
The mind is everything.
What we think we become.
Buddha
624BC – 543BC

People get disturbed not so much by events,
but by the view they take of them.
Epictetus
55 – 135

Our life is what our thoughts make it.
Marcus Aurelius
121 – 180

Whether the events in our life are good or bad,
greatly depends on the way we perceive them.
Michel de Montaigne
1475 – 1564

The mind is its own place,
and in itself can make a Heaven of hell,
a hell of Heaven.
John Milton
1608 – 1674

Nothing can stop a man
with the right mental attitude
from achieving his goal.
Thomas Jefferson
1743 – 1826

Whether you think you can
or think you can’t..
you are right!
Henry Ford
1863 – 1947

Attitude is a little thing
that makes a big difference.
Winston Churchill
1874 – 1965

Outer changes always begin with
an inner change of attitude.
Albert Einstein
1879 – 1955

Change the way you look at things
and the things you look at change.
Wayne Dyer
1940 – 2015

Most of us know it’s better to think positively than negatively, (although some people believe if they think negative they won’t be disappointed when the positive outcome doesn’t happen!) but, knowing you should be positive and doing so when faced with a negative thought or situation is something many do not know how to achieve. So this is something I wanted to convey in this poem.

Always seeking for a better feeling thought was something I learned from following the teachings of Abraham-Hicks. For me, Abraham speaking through Esther Hicks have been the greatest teachers of living a life of love, peace and joy.

Human Beings Can Alter Their Lives - inspirational poem by Trina Graves of Spiritual Quotes To Live By

Thank You

Thank you for your Mothering, right from the very start
You nurtured our family, consistently working from your heart

Thank you for Leading me to become an intuitive mother
Using my inner guidance not just the advice of any other

Thank you for all the little things you have ever Said and Done
That have made my life so happy, full of delight and lots of fun

Thank you for your Presence, I know at all times you will be there
Whenever I need you, it’s heart-warming to know you always care

Thank you for your Guidance all through the many years
Your love and support has helped me wipe away the countless tears

Thank you for your Honesty you always taught me right from wrong
By your example I learned, and now live with integrity my whole life long

Thank you for your Morality although nothing much was said
I grew up choosing to truly be in love, before I share my bed

Thank you for your Positive Attitude, it’s truth has helped me see
I reap what I sow in life, my thoughts guide who I will be

Thank you for your Happiness, always showing me a smile
Even when clouds are present, you know they will only last awhile

Thank you for Teaching me life’s challenges are often like a test
I’ve learned from your example, to always strive to do my best

Thank you for your Wisdom, when things all get too much
You say, “Hand it over to God” to feel His guiding touch

Thank you for your Love, given to me unconditionally
Someone who consistently radiates that love is who I yearn to be

Thank you for your Knowledge, you may not think I’ve gained this from you
But degrees can’t teach the highest lessons, the most important is love, is so true

Thank you for Faith in the presence of God above
It’s been a guiding light for me, knowing of this love

Thank you for your Spiritual Essence, it’s helped me find my way
You taught me to seek my own path, I live it each and every day

Thank you for your Example to live a life of simple things
The joy of family and peace of nature, gives our spirit wings

Thank you for Providing a sanctuary of home, a feathered nest
Where all through the years I’ve been welcomed to return to for a rest

Thank you for your Life, though one day physically we will part
But I know we are eternally joined, by the love we share in our heart

Thank you for your Blessings that I know are always with me
I bless you and know our love unites us, forevermore into infinity

About This Poem

The week before Mothers Day (in 2015) I sat to write a poem for my mum, but after asking for guidance what poured out instead was a poem about being a mother:  ‘Those Moments I Treasure.‘ So, a few days later I had another go and this poem was the result. After praying for guidance I knew it would be a ‘Thank You’ poem, so I first wrote a list of all the things I wanted to say thank you for, then I just went with the flow and didn’t put them in any particular order.

I used photographs of me and my mum through the years to add to the poem to make a print for her. (below)

Thank You - inspirational poem by Trina Graves of Spiritual Quotes To Live By

What We Are Today Comes From Our Thoughts Of Yesterday – And Our Present Thoughts Build Our Life Of Tomorrow. Our Life Is The Creation Of Our Mind.

Title Quote: Buddha

My thoughts of yesterday
Were cloudy and unclear
Overshadowed by the patterns
Of all those who I was near

Unguided and docile
I joined the massive herd
Plodding on through life
Not living as I preferred

But there came moments of Light
That sparked my inner core
I stepped on my path of truth
That led me to the Spiritual door

Discovering the energy of thought
Creates everything we live
I began to understand my life
And the affect of those I’m with

Now the negativity of my past
Thoughts of hopelessness and lack
Are dissolved from my mind
Knowing Source Energy has my back

My power is in each moment
Not the years, days or hours
If I focus on love, beauty and joy
My life will blossom and fully flower

                         ***

What we are today comes from
Our thoughts of yesterday
They establish and manifest
In all we do and what we say

Our present thoughts build
Our life of tomorrow
Are your thoughts right now
Building a life of joy, or sorrow?

Our life is the creation
Of our mind, is so true
Thoughts of love and joy
Will create a happy you

About This Quote

As this quote is rather long I did consider just using the last part ‘Our Life Is The Creation Of Our Mind,’ but once I began writing I knew I would use the whole quote.

When I first learned of The Law Of Attraction I was also discovering how much we are manipulated and controlled.  I could see my past in a new light, which also gave me a knowing of how I wanted to change my life. For a while I focused too much on all the wrongs in our world, but I came to realize that whatever has happened in the past, whether it’s my personal past, the atrocities evident in history, or even globally in the present day, by focusing on any of it brings more of the same.

And the only way forward is to bless the past for the lessons it has brought, send love, compassion and forgiveness to ALL those involved, then let it all go! By focusing on being happy, at peace. and flowing love to all, in each and every present moment, is the path I now choose to follow.

Light Tomorrow With Today (2)

Title Quote: Elizabeth Barrett Browning

Tomorrow never comes
We all know this is true
For once we get there
Tomorrow’s not in view

We can only live each day
One at a single time
Being in the present moment
We are living at our prime

Live each day in love and joy
Focused from your heart
And see them returned to you
In abundance, if this you start

The Law of Attraction brings to you
Everything you think and feel
So now is the only time to be happy
As you create the you that is real

It’s a short quote, in simple words
But with so much wisdom to convey
To live your life achieving your dreams…
Light Tomorrow With Today

About This Poem

When I began collecting quotes for my website Spiritual Quotes To Live By I came across this one from Elizabeth Barrett Browning and added it because I liked it.  I realize now that I never really understood the meaning. Through learning more about the Law of Attraction since 2010, I now clearly see that by living today focused on love, peace and happiness will more easily bring a tomorrow full of the same.

I write poems using quotes as the title and theme to add interest to my website, back in 2016 I was working my way through a list of quotes. Sometimes when I’m writing I get other ideas for using the same quote, or I might not be totally happy with the first poem so I’ll write another. This was the second poem on this quote (which is why it is numbered) I will add the other poem at a later date.

Light Tomorrow With Today - inspirational poem by Trina Graves of Spiritual Quotes To Live By

A Gentle Soul

Many people shape our lives
Especially during the younger years
With us through the blessed joys
And there to wipe our tears

Some are as large-as-life
Their presence takes centre stage
It’s easy to see how their character
Is written on our biography page

But some are quiet in nature
Their presence ever-serene
Life continues on around them
As though they’re hardly seen

They may not have much to say
But their words are kind and pure
Just being in their company
Will affect you at your core

They are the ink to our pen
Without them we couldn’t write
The story of our lives, no words
Would show in dark or light

Their flow brings our life to focus
Through the years their aura imparts
Blessing us with their lighted goodness
That moulds and forms our hearts

*************************************

Jennie, my maternal grandmother
Was one, a truly gentle Soul
Petit in stature, not essence
An epitome of the mother role

A mother in time of war
I can’t even imagine the fear
Daily she must have felt
In London with bombs so near

Giving up home and possessions
Evacuating, for her daughters sake
Many years would pass by before
Their own home she could re-make

Times were hard and relentless
Death and Illness she had to face
But her beloved five children
Were cocooned in her warm embrace

Years passed as they all fled her nest
Moving on, to create their own family
And onward through the generations
Her tranquillity shone out so clearly

On the passing of her husband Alfred
Frail and alone, the future bleak?
She had another lesson to teach us all
How to live on? What should you seek?

The blessing of her life was her family
And through them she developed strength
Staying with grandchildren brought her such joy
Her years continued for a much greater length

It’s now been 24 years since she moved
To our true home in the Heavens above
But what she left behind in many hearts
Is her pure and simple, unconditional love

Gentle was Jennie’s nature
Pure was Jennie’s Soul: :
Jennie taught by example
Peace: life’s precious goal

About This Poem

I wrote this poem for my mum’s birthday last year, I made it into a card so that the first part of the poem was on the outside, then when she opened it there was a full length picture of her mum with the rest of the poem about her.

I have written several poems for members of my family and had no intention of sharing most of them, but reading through them I thought some could be suitable to share, this being one.

We Are Just Walking Each Other Home

Title Quote: Ram Dass

It’s a well-known way to view life
As a ‘Path’ we all must take
The Path can be rough or smooth
Depending on the choices we make

We can travel on our track alone
Or with close and trusted friends
There presence gives us support
As we navigate the dips and bends

Varied loved ones will accompany us
Along the majority of our life path
The love we share gives us direction
The joy, lightens our way as we laugh

But where does this pathway begin?
And where does it go to, and end?
Or is it a vast circular Highway
We want to know, to comprehend

I believe the two points are the same
From Source we arrive at our birth
Wandering along to find our own route
The reason we decided to come to Earth

Experiencing the joys and the beauty
Giving unconditional love to one-and-all
Discovering our unique gift to share
Is the true path we all came here for

Sharing our love and our gifts
With any who join us on our roam
Enlightenment comes to let us know
We Are Just Walking Each Other Home

Trina Graves – 5th December 2016

About This Poem

When I am out taking nature photographs one theme I am always on the lookout for are pathways, as I know many quotes (and my poems) use the expression of life as a path we all follow. Wooded footpaths and beach footpaths are my favourites to photograph and use. When out for walks with others I will purposely lag behind so that I can get a shots of people usually in the distance of a footpath as I think they make excellent pictures for quotes.

When I sat to write the poem for this quote I thought it would be a sympathy poem, but when the words began to flow it was obviously going to be about the path of life.

You Will Know Your Path.. By The Fun Of It

Title Quote: Abraham-Hicks

Many of us feel there is something
We should be doing that we’re not
Nothing seems quite right for us
No matter what we’ve achieved or got

We all come to Earth with a plan
There is something special we came to do
And nothing will ease this empty feeling
Until we set on our path that’s true

But some of us can’t seem to find the way
Even to ‘see’ the path we should take
It seems there are too many roads to choose
How do we know and not make a mistake?

The secret is to always look for
The thing that you find is fun
What is it that you love to do?
If you had a list, what’s number one?

What is it that eradicates time?
You don’t notice the ticking of the clock
When doing the thing you love
It’s as if time has hit a block

What is it that gets you all fired up?
Burning with a passionate desire
Some way of helping others is the key
To know it’s the path that will raise you higher

You may find you begin many trails
There are an abundance of fun ways to go
But taking many paths won’t fill your aching need
Your progress on ‘The One’ will be too slow

If you find it difficult to make the choice
Which ones could you live without
And which is the one that keeps calling
It may start as a whisper, but becomes a shout

                            ***

In my life I’ve started various paths
Many similar, but I was never quite sure
Which was my one true path I should tread
To fulfil me and make my heart soar

It’s taken me numerous years to realize
One of the earliest I took was my authentic path
But I believe everything happens for a reason
So joyfully I walk on, and at myself I laugh

And now that I know I’m on the right path
I follow its course each and every day
I know in my heart it’s the one for me
No matter what others may say

There are times that I might stumble or fall
The way ahead is not always level or smooth
But I’ll just get back up and carry on
Onwards and upwards I’ll always move

If I have a difficult decision to make
At any junction or crossroads on the way
I always know how to make the choice
Which one would be fun to play?

I know my path by the fun of it
I enjoy what I am doing it’s true
So I hope this poem will shed some light
On the fun path ahead for you

Trina Graves – 19th November 2016

About This Poem

As I mention in the poem, it took me many years to realize what my ‘true’ path was. Although looking back now I can see indications going back to my childhood, there was always something blocking my knowing. I can see now that quite often I would listen to others about what I ‘should’ be doing, but that never brings our true path. Self-doubt and self-criticism were obstacles too. For quite a few years I believed my path was to be a healer, I was told by several mediums that I could heal and I had great success with a new technique (EFT) at that time (2002) when I used it with family members and myself. I ventured into teaching others how to use this amazing self-healing tool. It worked really well on the few people I taught, and I always loved the feeling of helping someone to help themselves, but I can see now that my love and enjoyment for it was not 100%.

For a while I had two websites going, my Spiritual Quotes To Live By and one called Healing DIY. Eventually I came to realize that I had to let one of them go because I had so much to add to each one and I wasn’t happy with the slow progress with working on two. So, it really came down to the choice of which one could I live without. I felt I am a healer and should be teaching people self-healing, but I knew that I could never live happily without continuing collecting uplifting quotes and writing inspirational poems. This, for me, is definitely more FUN!

You Will Know Your Path By The Fun Of It - inspirational poem by Trina Graves of Spiritual Quotes To Live By

The Simple Things In Life

If ever you are feeling down
Whatever it is that makes you frown
Just open your eyes and look about
You’ll find something, without a doubt
To make you smile and appreciate
That the simple things in life are great

A smile, a glance, a hug, a touch
From someone that you love so much
A flower, a leaf, a blade of grass
Nature’s treasures we blindly pass

The serenity of a sleeping child
Even if, in the daytime they tend to run wild
A newborn baby so complete yet so small
You can’t help but wonder the miracle of it all

Trina Graves – 15th November 2001

About This Poem

This was one of my earlier poems, the only thing I can remember about writing it is that it didn’t take very long!

What I can say now though is, back in 2001, I was most certainly blind to the treasures of nature! Yes, I liked trees and flowers and pretty scenes, but I had not developed any sense of the awesomeness of nature that would have me spellbound by a dandelion seed head or a daisy (two of my now favourite small things of nature). Back then it was babies and children that would inspire me.

Until I began my Spiritual Quotes To Live By website I never took nature photographs, all my photos were of my family. If we went for a walk to the woods, the photos would be of the children playing. But, in 2011 because I wanted to start making some photo-quotes I went with some of my grandchildren for a walk to a small woods nearby, intending to take some nature shots too. It was spring time and there was blossom on some of the trees, (I always liked blossom) and as I walked along looking for nature shots it was as if my eyes were opened for the very first time! I was mesmerized by the simplest of things, it was on this first walk that I took a photo of a dandelion seed head that I use as my logo on my site and Facebook page. I was so struck by the perfection of this ‘weed,’ for me it is a simple reminder of that first walk and my eyes being opened to the perfection of nature.

Don’t Bother With A Funeral

Don’t bother with a funeral
It is a ceremony of old
The one we’ve clung to longest
It’s so hard to break the mould

Traditional Christenings and Weddings
Have moved on with passing time
Some have let go of the old ways
Knowing their absence is no crime

For God is not only in a church
Or wherever we go to pray
All-That-Is lives in our hearts
And Omnipresent, every day

Why put people through the agony
Of saying a last goodbye?
Producing memories of sadness
That linger and make us cry

Their passing causes enough pain
So why create even more?
Especially as they live on
The other side of a locked door

The door is locked to us for now
But one day we will have the key
And be united through our love
Together again, our ‘eyes’ will see

When our coats are worn and old
We all just easily throw them away
The body is just an overcoat we wear
Containing our Spirit, for our Earthly stay

Duty and respect are words we use
Keeping people locked in, to follow rules
It’s time to let go of past reasons
And follow our heart, to where it pulls

If we didn’t visit them much in life
Why do we haste to say goodbye?
Maybe guilt and regret play a part
‘Paying Respect’ a fitting white lie

Beautiful flowers adorn the box
Where our overcoat is laid to rest
But in life did we give them flowers?
When they can enjoy them, is truly best

So don’t bother with my funeral
No need for ceremony to say goodbye
Love me as in life, as I love you
And in death, I’ll wait to say ‘Hi’

Oh please, I do not want a ceremony
I’ve just got rid of my overcoat
I’m free now to be omnipresent
Into your thoughts I will easily float

I mean it truly, don’t give me a funeral
My dearest ones, I love you and truly care
Remember the happy times that we shared
And know, for you I will always be there

Trina Graves – 27th April 2016

About This Poem

I’m not too sure why I felt the need to write this poem, I guess it just brought together my thoughts and feelings on funerals.

I personally believe…

If you are a flower-giver, they should be given to people while they are able to enjoy their beauty, I think it’s crazy to spend lots of money on elaborate arrangements for funerals, especially if you never gave the person flowers when they were alive. Flowers would be better off sent to the ones who are grieving to brighten up their home and show them they are being thought of.

Everyone should talk of their life stories to family and friends, it’s so much more personal and memorable to hear them from the actual person, than words spoken by another at a sad time.

The people we love should hear our words of love, respect and thankfulness while they are alive. Although I know they can also hear them when they are passed, we should all let them know they are loved and appreciated NOW.

Empty bodies do not need ornate boxes, elaborate vehicles for conveying or any other of the trappings of funerals. They do not need to be buried and visited. If cremated, it matters not what is done with the ashes.

I know most people would not agree with all of my thoughts, and I greatly respect whatever theirs are. As with everything in life, we live and die by our own choices.

My dad is in his 80’s and my mum will be 80 later this year. When I visit my parents and they mention anything about dying or their thoughts on their funerals, they are always apologizing for talking of such things. I constantly tell them I am happy to discuss this topic and don’t think of it as something we shouldn’t talk about. Only this last week both of them changed some of their wishes, so I guess it is something we continue to adapt as we go through life, however long we are blessed to be here.

At the moment, my wishes are for my empty body to be cremated as soon as possible with no coffin and no attendance from my loved ones. I like the idea of giving my loved ones a video of my favourite quotes and poems (including some of mine!) words of love and appreciation for the part they played in my life, photographs and my favourite uplifting songs, so I am working on that. I do not want a funeral service, but if my loved ones want to have a gathering, it is up to them. And hopefully (if I am blessed to have completed it in time!) they will have my choice of music and words to reflect upon!

The Joys Of Parenthood

The greatest gift in life, you’ve received today
The birth of your precious little one, safely here to stay
Entrusted to your gentle, loving care
God knows that you are a wonderfully, devoted pair

Your lives will never again be the same
Now that you are parents, you have a new aim
To love and protect her, to nurture and to care
The joys of parenthood are beyond compare

The happiness, joy and love you now feel
Will stay with you forever, this love is so real
There is nothing in life that can compare to this
The birth of your cherished baby, brings you pure bliss

About This Poem

This poem was written eleven years ago today! The years have certainly flown by and the precious little bundle of joy is now almost as tall as both her parents.

My oldest daughter, Julie, always wanted to be a mother. From a young age she looked forward to the time when she’d get married and have children. With that attitude I always thought that she would be the first of my three children to make me a grandmother, but her brother surprised us all by becoming a father at seventeen. Julie of course became a wonderful aunt to her niece. Then five years later her younger sister, Emma, got married and had a daughter too, closely followed by a son. Julie doted on her nieces and nephew, but her relationships, so far, had not been right to settle down and have children. However, it wasn’t too long after this that she met a new man who seemed perfect to her. They moved in together and it wasn’t too long before she became pregnant. Becoming a mother was such a longed for experience  I wanted to write something to remember it by.

They are now married and have two other children, Amy (8) and Lowen (3).

Who Am I?

From the moment I was born
Many roles did I receive
Placed within my Being
What depth would I believe?

A Human-Being of planet Earth
A Girl of physicality
English by place of birth
Premature was little me

Born into the Working Class
No ‘silver spoon’ to be fed
No ‘blue blood’ in my veins
Into this Ordinary Life I was led

First Daughter to my parents
First Granddaughter on both sides
A Sister to my brother
Niece and Cousin, timing provides

Five roles of relationships
Fifteen Family Members I affected
But none will observe the same
In the Baby they inspected

A Son or Daughter is a different person
To each and every mum and dad
Gender expectations are impressed
From their own upbringing they had

A midwife delivered me that night
At home, doing her chosen work
Present for the miracle of birth
My entry an Occupational Perk

Visiting Doctors and Baby Clinics
About the town, going for walks
I became a Patient and a Citizen
A source of gossip in their talks?

Overly shy, I did turn heads
As I screamed the places down
Many must have considered me
A Toddler nightmare, with a frown

Two more brothers came along
But no sisters were for me
My brothers have a different Sister
From the perspective of each three

Starting school I became a Pupil
To be taught all the right ways
Of education at that time
And the rules a Child obeys

Through the many years of schooling
Various teachers made their mark
I, their Student was seen differently
A Character of light or of the dark?

Different levels of friendship
Came and went over the years
Playmate, Classmate, Acquaintance, Friend
Some brought joy and others tears

Out into the world of work
Stacking shelves as a teen
An Employee I became
Another role to be seen

Many jobs, many views
Of people I would instigate
Interactions and experiences
Would affect my chosen fate

Being in love changes people
The pair together and those around
The power of love is so great
Its expression and depth truly profound

Seen with eyes of love is so awesome
When two blend it’s like a drug
Loosing yourself in the emotion
Even apart, enveloped in a warm hug

To the one who stole my heart
I became their Lover, Fiancee, Wife
So intoxication the roles I played
But would not remain throughout my life

My most blessed role of all
Would bring bliss so pure and true
Becoming a Mother woke me up
Unconditional love coming through

I placed this role as my priority
And was blessed with two more
Angels added to our family unit
To love, cherish and to adore

I am a Mother to three children
But, each see a different kind
Inner truths and insecurities
Develop and influence the mind

I saw my role as a joint Parent
As two equals in the giving
Babies need nurturing and love
Adults adapting to daily living

I never knew for many years
The change in my role of a Wife
My intense love for our children
My husband felt as lack and strife

So another role I took on
A Divorcee feeling remorse

But it heralded great change
My true purpose was on course

I became a Spiritual Seeker
Limitations gone, I was free
To live and learn and grow
To be The Me I Came Here To Be

Becoming a young Grandmother
Was the icing on the cake
Unconditional love for these jewels
Brought the Poet in me awake

Many lessons I have experienced
From becoming a Mother-In-Law
Different characters and views
Letting go of any control at all

Daughter, Sister, Mother
Friend, Stranger, Wife
Spiritualist, Blogger, Inspirer
Are just a few roles of my life

With each, whoever’s looking
At me, has filters on their eyes
Their perception alters the view
Adapting to where their truth lies

But who am I to me?
Is all I should focus on
It can take many years to see
I am more than the roles I don

I am a Spiritual Being first
A Spark of God to spread the Light
I came here to experience it all
The joys and sorrows are all alright

I am United in Oneness
With All-That-Is and will ever be
I am the Alpha and Omega
We all share this in Individuality

Before my birth I knew it all
At my death, I will re-unite
All my experiences good and bad
Bring truth and clarity of sight

Each role that I have played
In this beautiful game on Earth
Has brought me to where I am
Opening the knowledge of my worth

Although these words are about me
My life and the path that I took
We all play roles in our own story
What are yours? Why not take a look?

About This Poem

I was reading a post from Amira: Accepting Change, Releasing Limitations, and while reading it a quote came to my mind, the combination of the two inspired me to write this poem. I am pretty sure the quote was from an unknown source and I thought I had it written down ready to add to my quote site, but I couldn’t find it. From my memory it was: “I am a Mother to three children, each of them has a different Mother and none of them are me.”

Many of my poems are personal to my life and might be totally irrelevant to others lives, but I believe reading other peoples ‘stories’ can shed light on our own and open doors to greater understanding.

I thought this photograph of us playing roles was perfect for this poem!

Assimilation

Babies are born into this world
As pure Spirits, into our care
Most think of them as totally helpless
But they are Awake and Aware

It’s true they need to be looked after
The physical body takes time to train
Unlimited potential lies ahead for them
After mastering their body and brain

But these unique and pure Spiritual Beings
Are learning and adapting as they grow
Throughout pregnancy, birth and early years
They assimilate everything you show

We are all essentially Spiritual Beings
Therefore words and actions do not convey
As much as the energy we constantly radiate
Through our thoughts and feelings every day

Our thoughts, beliefs and perception
Will build our world, our exclusive reality
Children mimic from those around them
Familiar traits to become their personality

Surrounded by nurturing, unconditional love
Supported with flowing positive praise
Encouraged to independently think
A child will embody all these ways

About This Poem

Many of my poems are about babies and children because they have been the main focus of my adult life. I had my three children at a young age and became a grandmother at thirty-six, my oldest grandchild is now an adult (21 this year) with others ever fast approaching!

One of the main things I wish I had known all those years ago when my children were born was that they are like sponges, taking in everything around them with no filters. I guess at an unconscious level I knew this because I was always wary of what was going on around them. But I never understood that it wasn’t just my words and actions, but my thoughts and feelings that had an effect on them. It’s all so clear to see now in their adult lives snippets of reflections of how I was back then.

And now in my grandchildren I see them develop as mini versions of their parents and the people that surround them. I always knew that we are influenced by the way we are brought up, but I never realized the extent of how it all programs our minds.

Although, another interesting point is that some people who have had unstable or even terrible upbringings are able to put their focus on achieving everything opposite to their personal experiences. Two wonderful examples of this are Wayne Dyer and Anthony Robbins. Wayne Dyer had an alcoholic father who left his family of three children under four, his mother couldn’t cope so she sent one child and Wayne to a series of foster homes, and the other to live with a grandmother.  Wayne chose to perceive this experience as a lesson in self-reliance. Anthony Robbins childhood was abusive and poor, it was an anonymous gift of a food basket on Thanksgiving (when he was still a child) that changed his life, as he then set his focus on being able to help others in the same way.

We Are Being Taken Over!

Poem based on quote by: James A. Simpson

We Are Being Taken Over…
This is NOT a conspiracy theory!
You will KNOW this to be true
If you read all the way through.

We Are Being Taken Over…
They are already here living among us
They arrive each and every day
There is no stopping them.

They are positioning themselves in all walks of life
All races, all cultures, all classes, all abilities
They are willing to infiltrate them all.

They don’t have control yet
But they will… it’s only a matter of time.

Slowly, but surely they will take over…
They will be in control of every village, every town,
every city, every country and every nation.

They will be in every profession…
Teachers, Shop Workers, Lawyers Nurses,
Social Workers, Authors, Doctors, Carers, Bankers, Police…
Every single occupation.

They will command and be the governments and armies
of every single nation.

Their influence will touch the lives of us all.

They will be the parents of the next generations
Instilling their own beliefs and their own way of life
On the children of the future.

They are everywhere, waiting for their time.
In the years ahead they will take over…
No one will be immune to their domination
They will have total control.
Wherever you go on this planet…
They will be there.

Are you concerned about this?
Are you worried what will happen?
Surely somehow they can be stopped?
What if we close our borders?

But they are not arriving in that way
They have another means of entry.

This invasion has been going on since humans began
We are powerless to stop it.

But, thankfully scientist have recently discovered that we can gain control.
They have found out that when these Beings arrive they are not fully programmed.
We have the power to install the software that can benefit us all.

It is a mammoth task, but it’s doable, if enough of the right people take their part.

These beings use a type of mind virus to adapt to our world
They learn to behave like us humans by memes.
They watch our every move, listen to our every word
Copy our mannerisms, actions and habits.

They can even tune into our thoughts
So we will have to be Aware at all times.

We need to use our hearts and minds to focus on how we want our world to be…
Loving, Peaceful, Supportive, Generous, Helpful,
Compassionate, Forgiving –  in all its Diversity.

Caring and Sharing the abundance of resources available for everyone.
Living in Appreciation and Gratitude.
Treasuring our planet and every living thing on it.
Then we can programme the new arrivals with these qualities.

We will have to be very careful to do our best to live these qualities ourselves
Because their complete core programming takes about six years.

It will be very easy at first to nurture them
Showing them only love, compassion and joy.

But, as time passes and we have bad days
Getting stressed out about this and that, it becomes harder to stay aware…
They will always mimic our every mood
And install it.

As I said, it is a tremendous task
But it would be worth it…

What a wonderful world we could all share in the future.
And in our aging years we would be surrounded by loving, caring citizens of Earth.
We would be joyously happy to let these new beings take over, everywhere.
The future of life on Earth would be safe in their capable, caring hands and hearts.

So, who among us is up for the job?…

Well, actually, they have already chosen you!

Who are these infiltrators?
And where do they come from?

They are Pure Beings of Love and Light
Sent to Earth to guide us and to teach us to remember who we are…

We are Beings of Love and Light.

They come from God/Source/All-That-Is.

They are…

Our Children.

Trina Graves – July 2016

About This Poem

This poem is based upon the following quote by Rev. James A. Simpson.

“An army is invading our country. It is going to capture and take possession of everything we have, every political office, business, school, college and council. Nothing will be left to us. This army is composed of the babies and youngsters in our homes. They are the future citizens, the future teachers, directors, politicians. What happens to them, the kind of people they will become, will determine the quality of life in this country twenty-thirty years from now. No task is therefore more important than the education and training of these children in honesty, self-discipline, generosity, love and forgiveness.”

When I first read this quote I thought it was very thought provoking in it’s truth. I had previously been reading about how children have no filters in their early years and just absorb everything from those who surround them, so I wanted to bring these together in a poem. I also liked the idea of making it like a Conspiracy Theory of us being taken over, so I did not want to reveal until the very end that it is all about children.

We Are Being Taken Over - inspirational poem by Trina Graves of Spiritual Quotes To Live By

Every Instant Of Time Is A Pinprick Of Eternity

Title Quote: Marcus Aurelius

Time: A simple word that evokes so much
In the modern world it imprints on all we touch
Lives are ruled by the ticking of the clock
Conforming to its pace, we heed the tick-tock

It’s a man-made concept all so easily seen
When twice a year we have to adjust our routine
Changing the clock first forward and then back
Why does it continue? Is it sensibility we lack?

Fitting everything in at the allotted time
Being late is frowned on, considered a crime
Forcing people to be the same as each other
Obeying the system, natural alignment we smother

In the times of old, nature ruled the days
Governed by the sun’s lightening rays
Dawn, mid-day and dusk were the cue
To the timing of all they needed to do

It’s funny how the same minute can be long or short
Hours, days, even years, it seems time can distort
Why is it that the exact same duration
Can change? Is there really an explanation?

At embarrassing moments time just stands still
As our mind freezes or overdrives to try and fill
The awkwardness with maybe something funny to say
While we silently wish it would all just go away

As we get older it seems that time goes so fast
Speeded up from our childhood days, long in the past
When school summer holidays seemed to last forever
We played happily all day, no matter the weather

There are things we experience where time goes so slow
Dealing with pain, physical or mental, is one we all know
It doesn’t even matter if the pain’s not our own
It’s excruciating when loved ones suffer and moan

Special occasions with family and friends speed by
Enjoying time together, no matter the reason why
Moments to treasure in our memory forevermore
Love is the key to transcend time’s prison door

Feeling lonely or neglected time drags its feet
Sinking deeper with the darkness, sat in our seat
Days are endless, stretching into the gloom
The pendulum of time heavily digs a tomb

Doing something we love time will rapidly pass
We don’t notice the hours go by so fast
Engrossed in pursuing our passion of heart
Time’s inconsequential from the moment we start

Someone sitting quietly in meditation
Can experience time in it’s duration
As though an hour is a few minutes, no more
As through they’re consciousness they explore

But another can sit the precise same stretch
And be tormented with all the thoughts they fetch
Bored or anxious and worried about what’s ahead
Time’s lethargic pace expands the points they dread

In childbirth time plays an important part
Counting the minutes right from the start
Hours draw out as the intensity increases
But time stills, as the magic moment reaches

With a baby, days and time have no meaning at all
Except for the duration between the newborn’s call
Getting everything done in between each wail
We’re wrapped up in the little one’s timescale

Being a parent time is a total quirk
The monotony can really be an irk
But looking back, where has the time gone?
The years flash by, we wish they’d prolong

The baby days that seemed so endless at the start
Are over so fast, now time hits our heart
As our children zoom through the years ahead
Before we know it, from the nest they have fled

As age takes its toll time can certainly slump
Especially if taken the attitude of a grump
But those who keep mind and body active
Will tinker with time and enthusiastically live

So have you noticed the difference between
Time being fast or slow, or how it is seen
Our perception alters our focus upon
Each moment, making it short or long

All of the spans of time so vast
Are caused by negative attitudes cast
Upon the focus, the perceptive view
Sending time off and all askew

When thinking positive as much as can be
Time moves faster, it is so easy to see
How living joyously in the moment brings more
To enrich our lives and enlighten our core

When aligned with your Source, the real you
Living in joy, with love coming through
There’s no need to watch the clock on the wall
Law of attraction will answer you’re heart’s call

Every instant of time is a pinprick
Of eternity’s candle, we are the wick
Vital to it’s radiance, expanding perpetually
Aligned with Source we are timelessly free

About This Poem

When I sat to write the poem for this quote I knew I wanted to cover how our perception of time is affected by what we are doing and our thoughts. I follow the teachings of Abraham-Hicks so I always do my best to focus on the positive and not give my attention to the negative, so I try not to include negative aspects in my poems unless I feel it is needed and I would only use them sparingly. However, I felt that this poem needed all of the contrasts, so it has many more negative experiences than I would usually include.

Most people agree that time seems to speed up as we get older, but I truly believe that time has actually sped up since we moved into the ‘New Age.’ When I look back to the 70’s/80’s/90’s I can’t believe all the things it was possible to do in one day! And now, my days go by so fast, in comparison it seems as though what was a morning is now a whole day! I know I am older so have slowed down, and as much as possible I spend my day doing what I love to do (which speeds time up) but, as each month passes in what seems not much more than a week, I sometimes wonder, with the ever-increasing speed, what will eventually happen?

However, I know that time is just a concept we need to experience our life here on Earth and in other dimensions it does not exist in the same way or at all. And most importantly the only time I need to be: concerned about, focused on, appreciating, living, being, loving, blessing, enjoying is NOW.

What do you think?

We Shall Not Die Alone

Title Quote: Blaise Pascal

There have always been stories
In modern times and old
How at the time of passing
There are Heavenly re-unions to behold
We Shall Not Die Alone
Heavenly Re-unions Will Bring Us Home

We all have our own Guardian Angel
A Celestial Messenger from above
Always by our side throughout life
Giving guidance and unconditional love
We Shall Not Die Alone
Our Guardian Angel Will Escort Us Home

There are other Divine Beings
Who agree pre-birth to take the part
To guide us through our life
Giving inspiration to our heart
We Shall Not Die Alone
Our Spirit Guides Will Guide Us Home

We all have lost beloved family
Who’s passing made our hearts cry
Regardless of their time spent on Earth
It was so painful to say goodbye
We Shall Not Die Alone
Beloved Family Will Take Us Home

There are even many family members
Who we never met in this present life
They passed over before our day of birth
But watch over us through trouble and strife
We Shall Not Die Alone
Past Generations Will Support Us Home

We’ve also had devoted friends
From our youth or recent days
Who’ve transitioned to the other side
And we miss them in so many ways
We Shall Not Die Alone
Departed Friends Will Accompany Us Home

Some have known the Unconditional Love
Of a faithful, friendly pet
Dog, cat or whatever animal
Their presence we never forget
We Shall Not Die Alone
Our Faithful Pet Will Walk Us Home

All through our lives there have been people
Who have inspired us, guided and taught
Through school, books, history or whatever
Knowledge and wisdom they brought
We Shall Not Die Alone
Our Teachers Will Lead Us Home

Strangers cross our path through life
Sometimes briefly or moments that last
But we always meet for a reason
Untold Blessings exchanged as we passed
We Shall Not Die Alone
Blessed Souls Will Greet Us Home

If it’s meant to be our treasured loved ones
Will be physically present on that day
We’ll have the chance to say farewell
And together for peace will pray
We Shall Not Die Alone
Our Loves Will Bless Us Home

But, even if their physical presence
Is not there at our last breath
Our love is a bond that unites us forever
Their Devoted Spirit will be present at our death
We Shall Not Die Alone
Our Loves Spirits Will Send Us Home

We all have our own Inner Guidance
Our Source, Spirit, Higher-Self or Soul
When aligned our lives are Blessed
We are Loving, Joyful and Whole
We Shall Not Die Alone
Our Higher-Self Will Unite Us Home

Some are truly Blessed with a Divine Encounter
Of a Being so High and Supreme
Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed, whoever they are
Their Blissful Presence will be like a dream
We Shall Not Die Alone
Ascended Masters May Enlighten Us Home

So you see the journey we all take
Is never a lonely one
With so much Love surrounding us
Our home-coming celebrations will have begun
We Shall Not Die Alone
An Abundance of Love Will Transport Us Home

About This Poem

There are so many wonderful near-death experience stories shared by people from all walks of life and different religions, I have always enjoyed reading them and find them so comforting and inspiring. I think in every one I have read the person who ‘died’ came back and lived a different life than before, they were more loving, compassionate and spiritually minded.

Before my maternal grandmother died in 1993 she had several heart-attacks, after being resuscitated from the first one she told my mum that she was no longer afraid of dying because it had been so peaceful. Also, not long before she died she had a dream of walking on ahead of her children.

My mother also told me the story of another relative who was in bed, unable to move for his last days, but just before passing he sat up and was happily talking to ‘someone’ in the room.

I truly believe that we are never alone in this life or the next, so, of course we will be ‘met’ for the crossing over. I also believe that as we create our world, we can therefore focus on and choose who we would like to be with us at this time. My paternal grandmother died when I was seven and my older brother was nine. We lived next door to her so were very close. My brother strongly believes that she will be the one to meet him when he dies, so I too am positive that she will be there for him.  I personally feel no need to determine ‘who’ will be the first one to greet me, it will all be a Blessed Re-union. 🙂

We Shall Not Die Alone - sympathy poem by Trina Graves of Spiritual Quotes To Live By

Mother’s Hand

As a little girl I held your hand tightly
For the world was a scary place.
As the years went by our clasp loosened
As I became eager to explore
Then the day came that we both let go
And I was able to walk alone.

Whatever I have faced in my life
I’ve known your hand is always there
For me to hold, if I need.
The warmth of your love
And guidance of your hand
Has steered me through the crowd of life
To bring me through.

Now as the years pass
I hold my hand out to you
For I will always be there
If you ever need me.
Take my hand and together
We can walk the rest of the path.

About This Poem

When I was about nine or ten, I wrote a poem for my mum called Mother’s Hand. My mum still has it! So, when I began writing poems (as an adult) I wanted to have a go at re-writing it for her birthday.

I can’t believe it was almost seventeen years ago! And there was me thinking she was getting old reaching sixty-three,  but in very few years I will be that age!!! Over the years I have written quite a few poems for my parents as they always love to receive them on special occasions. My mum will be eighty in October, so hopefully I will be up to the challenge of writing her something she will treasure. Now, as each birthday, anniversary and Mother’s/Father’s day comes round I begin to doubt that I can come up with something, but when I ask for guidance, it always comes. 🙂

Radiate An Energy Of Serenity & Peace

Title Quote: Wayne Dyer
Radiate An Energy Of Serenity And Peace, So That You Have An Uplifting Effect On Those You Come Into Contact With.

We all radiate our energy
Although our eyes do not see
Its presence, everywhere we go
Is yours dull, or do you glow?

When you walk into a room
You can sense the joy or gloom
From whoever is there inside
Energy shows, it cannot hide

Someone might be feeling sad
Or stirred to anger, getting mad
If you’re not conscious of your flow
Negative vibes in you can grow

But, you don’t have to let it be
Your thoughts and feelings set you free
Focus on Love and Joy always
Your energy, true and pure, will raise

You will then radiate and give
Upliftment to all those you’re with
Serenity and peace glow from you
In all you say, and all you do

Infuse yourself in Love and Light
Be a beacon burning bright
Radiate, Illuminate, Sparkle, Shine
At one with all, Spirit Divine

Trina Graves – 12th November 2017

About This Poem

Many years ago, before I began my Spiritual Path, I would wonder how it was possible to sense when someone was in a bad mood. They didn’t need to speak or even look at you, just walking into the room they were in, you could feel it! But what was more alarming was the way their bad mood would soon affect everyone else around them!

I was given plenty of experience in this phenomena, which at the time I certainly did not appreciate, but now I can see it was a learning experience. We mostly have to experience things to truly understand them and by living through some bad situations we know exactly what we don’t want, and so can strive for what we do. And the only way to do this is to be grateful for the experience, forgive yourself and whoever it concerned, bless it and let it go. And then, put all your attention on what you do want, never giving thought to what you don’t. Then, as more and more of what you do want shows up.. Appreciate it! Give thanks for it! and you will receive more of the same.

Another thing that baffled me was that sometimes people would say they felt calm when they were with me, I probably hadn’t said much at all, as I have always tended to listen more than talk, so I couldn’t see why they would say that. Of course, now I know we radiate out the energy of how we are feeling, and also we can intentionally send out energy to others too.

There is someone I know who had told me he heard and sensed thoughts, I rarely see him, but once (several years ago) when I was visiting someone he was there. I thought I’d try something and while they were talking and he had his back to me I built up a strong sense of love and blasted it at him! He immediately turned around to look at me and smiled, then continued talking. I had no doubt that he felt what I sent.

The Super Power

We all have a Super Power
The strongest there can be
Universally given to all
Young and old, you and me

It can penetrate all substances
Fly around the world in no time
Melt even the coldest of hearts
And cease the hurt of any crime

You can build up its strength
With the more that you use
This Power is Invincible
Blasted to wherever you choose

Our Power brings forth good
Showering others in it’s rays
Bringing joyfulness as it lands
Empowering in abundant ways

It’s rays can heal all disease
Illnesses fatal and those slight
The person receiving the Power
Just has to believe it is right

This Super Power has no limits
Even dying cannot stop it’s depth
It is the only thing to penetrate
The two worlds of life and death

Superman or Superwoman
Superbaby and Superchild
We need no special outfit
Just let your imagination run wild

Shine your Green Lantern or any colour
Be The Flash that shows the way
The true Guardians Of The Galaxy
Will then appear and they will stay

LOVE is our Super Power
LOVE will always save the day
LOVE is God, the ALL-THAT-IS
LOVE unites us in every way

Trina Graves – 12th August 2018

About This Poem

I awoke this morning with this title imprinted on my mind, although I gave up watching Superhero films many years ago I knew that the poem I was to write had to feature them!

There are three things I can think of that may have given way to this theme:  I have been wondering how I can write to attract and appeal to a younger audience, and have some fun topics. Also, somewhere over the past few months I read about why there is such a fascination for Superheroes at this present time. The article (I have not been able to find it, but if I do I will add an update) said that it is because people have an inner-knowing that we do indeed possess Super Powers and as more of us become Aware and Awake these powers will manifest more easily.

I think this has been the fastest I have ever completed a poem:  title, writing the poem, making the picture and doing the write up all in a few hours. The longest part was finding the right photograph! I knew I had one of my grandson dressed up and climbing a door-frame which I thought would be perfect, but then I discovered this one taken on the same day and thought was even better! I also would usually leave a poem for a day to re-read with fresh eyes, but I feel an urgent need to get this one ‘out there’ TODAY!

Love Is Eternal

Our lives are blessed with loved ones
Which makes it harder to bear
When they are taken from our sides
And are no longer there

We miss their smile, their warmth, their love
And sink deeper into our grief
We’re told that time will heal the pain
But still there is no relief

At quiet times we may feel their presence
But pass it off with a rebuff
We think that our minds are playing tricks
As if we’re not suffering enough

The key to it all is an ‘open mind’
With this you’ll know the way
If your mind is open you’re willing to be
Ready to accept miracles each day

Our loved ones are not that far away
Although it can be hard to believe
Just reach out with your thoughts and love
And be open for the gifts you’ll receive

Love is eternal it never dies
When we pass, it’s all that we can take
The love we share is never lost
The bond will never break

Trina Graves – 7th October 2001

About This Poem

Love Is Eternal was my very first attempt at writing a sympathy poem. It was also the first poem I intentionally wrote. I have always been drawn towards sympathy poems, not because of the loss of anyone close, but because I find most of them to be so uplifting. Looking back now, I can also see that this was part of my life path.

In January 1992 an uncle died. He was my mother’s oldest sister’s husband, and as I grew up he seemed to me to be a dominant man with old fashioned views of women. However, a few years before he died I spent some time working with him (my father had his own business, I worked in the office and my uncle helped out in establishing the marketing) and got to know a different side of his character. Now, I easily see where his views on women came from, as along with it being an older generations views, he only had the experience of brothers and sons.

At the get-together after his funeral there were two printed out poems that were passed around, I read them and liked them so kept a copy. They were: I Am Standing On The Sea Shore (Luther F. Beecher, but often credited to Bishop Brent) and Death Is Nothing At All (Henry Scott Holland).

I read these many times and found them so uplifting that I began to look for more inspirational words, quotes and poems. And I started to write them all down in a special notebook with my favourite family photos on the inside covers. Thus began my quest on my spiritual path, that would lead me to begin my Spiritual Quotes To Live By website in 2010 and to write my own poems.

It is only in writing this now that I have realized: the influence he had on my life while he was alive was small, but since his passing, it has launched me to where I am today, because he also gave me a message in 1994 (through a medium) which has greatly affected my writing. You can read more about this with my poem: ‘Insight.‘  I think I should point out that he was not a ‘Spiritual’ man during his life, at least, not that I knew of.

How do you view sympathy poems? Are they something you only read when a loved one has passed or missed? Or, like me, do you find them uplifting and reassuring to speak of life continuing on?
