Wherever I Am… God Is

Affirming The Classics: Prayer For Protection – James Dillet Freeman

I Am surrounded by the Light of God.
I Am enfolded by the Love of God.
I Am protected by the Power of God.
I Am melded with the Presence of God.
Wherever I Am… God Is.

Trina Graves – 21st May 2021

About This Prayer

In my collection Affirming The Classics I update well-known poems, prayers and hymns to make them more positive and turn them into affirmations.

The ‘Prayer For Protection’ by James Dillet Freeman obviously didn’t need to be made more positive, so it was just a case of using the powerful ‘I AM’ for each statement.

Of course, if you do not like to use the term ‘God’ it can easily be changed, for example:

I Am surrounded by the Light of Source.
I Am enfolded by the Love of Source.
I Am protected by the Power of Source.
I Am melded with the Presence of Source.
Wherever I Am… Source Is.

This is the original prayer by James Dillet Freeman:

Prayer For Protection
The light of God surrounds me.
The love of God enfolds me.
The power of God protects me.
The presence of God watches over me.
Wherever I am… God is.

With Thee – I Let It Be

Affirming The Classics: Take My Life And Let It Be
Frances Ridley Havergal

With my life, I let it be
Consecrated, Lord, with Thee
With my moments and my days
They now flow in Divine ways

With my hands, I let them move
At the impulse of Thy Love
With my feet, I let them be
Aligned on my path with Thee

With my voice, I clearly sing
Always, only truth I bring
With my words, I let them be
Filled with Love, Light and Beauty

With my treasures I declare
To ever give, always to share
With my intellect, I choose
Pure Divine power to use

With my freewill, God given
I live on Earth as Heaven
With my Heart, at core my Soul
Bringing Peace, and Love my goal

With my Love, and radiant Light
I only see with Source sight
I Am Sovereign, always free
God eternally in me

Trina Graves – 11th November 2020

About This Poem

With myAffirming The Classicscollection I update older poems and hymns to make them read more positive and as affirmations.

In this re-write the main difference is in claiming our own Divine Power rather than the old vibrational perspective of giving our power away, and asking for help. Although the asking is requesting to the Highest Source, it creates our reality that this Source is outside of ourselves.

Original hymn:

Take my life, and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee
Take my moments and my days
Let them flow in ceaseless praise

Take my hands, and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love
Take my feet, and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee

Take my voice, and let me sing
Always, only, for my King
Take my lips, and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee

Take my silver and my gold
Not a mite would I withhold
Take my intellect, and use
Every power as Thou shalt choose

Take my will, and make it Thine
It shall be no longer mine
Take my heart, it is Thine own
It shall be Thy royal throne

Take my love, my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure store
Take myself, and I will be
Ever, only, all, for Thee

The I Am Prayer

Affirming The Classics: The Lord’s Prayer

All-That-Is, God, The I AM Energy,
Known by many names: All One Source…
Omniscient, Omnipotent, Omnipresent.
Physical and non-physical dimensions are United in Oneness.

I Am thankful for the abundance You eternally provide.
I Am thankful for Your gift of freewill to choose my own way.
I Am choosing to be open-Hearted to Your Presence and guidance.
I Am living the way of: Love, Light, Peace, Compassion, Forgiveness and Joy.

I Am a particle of You, as we all are.
I Am in Your Kingdom, respectfully alongside many other forms of life.
I Am Your Love and Light.
I Am consistently radiating this to wherever it is needed.

I Am United in Your Power and Glory, in this life, and throughout Eternity.
I Am Blessed and Divine.
I Bless and acknowledge the Divinity in all things.

I Am Joyous as each moment unfolds to bring the Highest Good for the All,
In Eternal Oneness.
Amen

About This Prayer

For my ‘Affirming The Classics’ series of poems I wanted to bring old well-known poems and hymns up-to-date by using more positive wording and turning them into affirmations.

One of these was The Lord’s Prayer: In Oneness, but after writing it I knew I needed to do another version not so literally based on the original. Knowing that the words ‘I AM’ powerfully pronounce the presence of God Within, I knew this would be the basis of my alternative version.

I posted the first one just over a year ago and have wondered many times why this one has never seemed to ‘ready’ to post. However, now I am much more aware of Diving Timing, I knew one day the ‘time’ would be right.

Since writing this prayer our entire world has changed. Many more people are now coming to the awareness that what is happening around our planet is nothing to do with a ‘virus,’ but about the uncovering of the devastating corruption and truly evil things that have been kept hidden from the masses for so very long. It is because of our raising vibration that this is happening, the darkness can no longer hide. But as more of this depravity comes into our awareness I believe it is important to continually acknowledge and proclaim our own truth of God Within and our intention to follow the path of Love and Light.

Holy Spirit, In Me

Affirming The Classics: Holy Spirit, Hear Us – W. H. Parker

Holy Spirit, in me
Infusing as I sing
Breathes into the music
United joy, I bring

Holy Spirit, joins me
Linking when I pray
Always there to teach me
Love, always the way

Holy Spirit, shines on
All I see, and read
Opening my Heart to
The compassion I need

Holy Spirit, lifts me
So that I now find
My way to be like Jesus
Gentle, pure and kind

Holy Spirit, guides me
With pure Divine Light
My true Path is clearer
Using my Source sight

About This Poem

Another hymn to add to my Affirming The Classics collection where I take old inspirational poems and hymns and update the words to make them more positive and into affirmations. I didn’t know of this hymn, but came across it while looking for another one.

Here is the original hymn…

Holy Spirit, hear us
Help us while we sing
Breathe into the music
Of the praise we bring

Holy Spirit, prompt us
When we kneel to pray
Nearer come, and teach us
What we ought to say

Holy Spirit, shine thou
On the book we read
Gild its holy pages
With the light we need

Holy Spirit, give us
Each a lowly mind
Make us more like Jesus
Gentle, pure and kind

Holy Spirit, help us
Daily by thy might
What is wrong to conquer
And to choose the right

Holy Spirit In Me - Affirming The Classics by Trina Graves - Spiritual Quotes To Live By

I Walk In The Light

Affirming The Classics: Walk In The Light, So Shalt Thou Know – Bernard Barton

I walk in The Light, as I know
The fellowship of Love
God’s Spirit is a part of me
And flows from Light above

I walk in The Light, and I find
My Heart melding with His
I Am enshrined in the Pure Light
In me, no darkness is

I walk in The Light, even death
I embrace, as I share
The Joy, the Love, the Light, the Truth
And Christ awaits me there

I walk in The Light, the Love way
My unknown Path glows bright
God exists in the Heart of me
And God Himself is Light

Trina Graves – 16th October 2019

About This Poem

I did not know of this hymn, but came across it when looking for another one. I was surprised at how positive it was for being written so long ago. So it didn’t need much tweaking to turn it into an Affirmation for my series of Affirming The Classics.

Here is the original…

Walk in the light: so shalt thou know
That fellowship of love
His Spirit only can bestow
Who reigns in light above

Walk in the light; and thou shalt find
Thy heart made truly His
Who dwells in cloudless light enshrined
In whom no darkness is

Walk in the light; and e’en the tomb
No fearful shade shall wear
Glory shall chase away its gloom
For Christ has conquered there

Walk in the light: and thine shall be
No thornless path, but bright
For God, by grace, shall dwell in thee
And God Himself is Light

Bernard Barton 1784 – 1849

I Walk In The Light - Affirming The Classics by Trina Graves

Update 30th May 2023 – The Great Awakening

In this difficult time of The Great Awakening I believe it is vital to share as much positivity as possible, so in this category I wanted to include some simple affirming words to uplift anyone who reads them.

Walk in the Light, remain aware at all times that you can use your Divine Light to protect and lift your vibration when faced with any darkness. You will also radiate your Light to others, helping them to see what has been in the shadows for so very long, and aiding them to shine their own Light.

The Lord’s My True Guide

Affirming The Classics: The Lord’s My Shepherd – Scottish Psalter/psalm 23

The Lord’s my true Guide, All-That-Is
He respects my free-will
Now that I follow, in His way
In Loving Peace, I’m still

My Soul, it is aligned with Him
Rejoicing as I take
Steps on the Path of Pure Love
As footsteps of Light I make

As I walk towards my life’s end
I feel only the Bliss
For I am never alone, His Love
Is comfort, I never need miss

My life is abundantly Blessed
In truth, I have no foes
Every Soul is Heavenly sent
My Pure Compassion overflows

Goodness, Love and Light, all my life
Are always there for me
God is in me, for evermore
I live to express this, to Be

Trina Graves – 16th October 2019

About This Poem

The Lord’s My Shepherd is one of the most famous hymns known, and often sung, by many people, so it was an obvious choice for me to update in my series of Affirming The Classics.

My aim with this series is to update the old favourites and turn them into Affirmations. The originals were beautiful and inspirational for their time, but now many of us are coming to the understanding that God/Source/All-That-Is (or whatever name you prefer to use) is a part of us, and we can claim our Divinity to bring a United Light and Love to this world.

When I am Affirming hymns I always do my best to keep the syllables to the same number as the original so that they can be sung easily to the well-known tunes. This hymn is so often sang, so I especially made sure it matched!

The original hymn…

The Lord’s my Shepherd, I’ll not want
He makes me down to lie
In pastures green; He leadeth me
The quiet waters by

My Soul he doth restore again
And me to walk doth make
Within the paths of righteousness
E’en for his own name’s sake

Yea, though I walk in deaths dark vale
Yet will I feel no ill
For thou art with me, and thy rod
And staff me comfort still

My table thou hast furnished
In presence of my foes
My head thou dost with oil anoint
And my cup overflows

Goodness and mercy all my life
Shall surely follow me
And in God’s house for evermore
My dwelling place shall be

Scottish Psalter 1650

The Lord's My True Guide - Affirming The Classics by Trina Graves - Spiritual Quotes To Live By

Update 30th May 2023 – The Great Awakening

Keeping uplifted and in a positive frame of mind as much as possible is so very important in this time of The Great Awakening, which is why I include some of my Affirming The Classics in this category. With all of the revelations coming forth we can very easily slip into the negative by thinking of our world as being so full of darkness and especially by feeling hateful thoughts towards all of the perpetrators, which is natural and understandable.

However, by staying in negative emotions it lowers our vibration and feeds the dark’s power, so we need to rise above to boost the positive Light. Of course, it doesn’t mean the perpetrators should not be brought to justice and dealt with, we just need to focus on bringing as much Light as possible to eliminate the dark and therefore create our New Earth of Love, Light, Truth, Peace and Joy.

For me, The Lord’s My True Guide are words to remember to keep uplifted and on my true path.

Amazing Grace: Awakened Senses

Affirming The Classics: based on Amazing Grace by John Newton

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound
That tuned my aural energy
I once was lost, deafened by duality
But now I hear the harmony of Unity

Amazing Grace, how beautiful the sight
That cleared my optical energy
I once was lost, blinded by duality
But now I see the vision of Unity

Amazing Grace, how delicate the touch
That bathed by cellular energy
I once was lost, dis-eased by duality
But now healthy in the Well-Being of Unity

Amazing Grace, how delicious the taste
That imbued my appetizing energy
I once was lost, drip-fed by duality
But now I partake the menu of Unity

Amazing Grace, how fragrant the smell
That permeates my olfactory energy
I once was lost, clogged by duality
But now I inhale aromatic Unity

Amazing Grace, how Blissful the feeling
That flowed, uplifting my vibrational energy
I once was lost, in Earth’s dense duality
But now my senses are Awakened in Unity

Trina Graves – 18th September 2019

About This Poem

I have had Amazing Grace on my list of poems to do for my series of Affirming The Classics since I first began writing these. It is such a well-known classic and powerful hymn but, along with most other older inspirational poems and hymns, it contains negative aspects.

I have never liked the expression of ‘a wretch like me.’ And once I learned of the Law Of Attraction, I realized why. As a matter of interest, I just looked up the word ‘wretch’ in my dictionary and it is even more detrimental than I previously thought: a miserable, unfortunate, pitiful creature; a shamelessly wicked person.

Even though it is speaking of before receiving ‘Grace,’ to ever perceive ourselves in such negative ways is destructive. Thinking of ourselves in this way, or as a sinner that needs to be ‘saved’ is the old energy of humanity, that is now clearing away.

We all contain the essence of God, it’s just a matter of how much we acknowledge this, and align ourselves with living from that essence.

When I started this re-write I intended to do as I’ve done before, in going through each verse and make them as positive and affirmative as I could. However, this one went in a different direction, and I soon realized it was to be all about the senses Awakening. I did wonder whether or not to include this in the series, as the words are not all totally positive with each verse containing the ‘lost in’ part, but I believe it needs to be with the others.

Although I haven’t done it yet, I will have another go at working through the complete original hymn…

Amazing Grace how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now am found
Was blind, but now I see

‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace those fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed

Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come
‘Tis grace has brought me safe thus far
And grace will lead me home

The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures

Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail
And mortal life shall cease
I shall possess, within the veil
A life of joy and peace

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow
The sun forbear to shine
But God, who called me here below
Will be forever mine

When we’ve been there ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we first begun

John Newton  1775 – 1807

The last verse (my favourite) was added at a later date by an unknown American.

Amazing Grace: Awakened Senses - Affirming The Classics by Trina Graves - Spiritual Quotes To Live By

Update 30th May 2023 – The Great Awakening

In this time of The Great Awakening it is important to recognize in our world of duality it is up to us to choose which side we want in our lives to be dominant: negative or positive. It takes constant focus to remain in the positive as we have been manipulated all of our lives to live in fear of our lives, health, livelihood etc.. and it is heavily pushed that there are always others who are against our way of life.

In 2020 so very many people were manipulated and programmed through a well-planned psy-op to live in great constant fear, resulting in them not questioning absurd rules and doing as they were told, also enabling themselves to be used for a experimental treatment. From the very beginning of Covid, so very many things made no sense whatsoever if even just a little critical thinking was used. And now, three years later it is so sad to hear of all the devastated and lost lives that continue to be a result of this experiment.

From a much Higher Perspective, we all choose our time of death and all those who have passed during this time chose to aid humanity in The Great Awakening by taking their part in this way. They are Blessed and are now at Peace, watching us continue on with this momentous task, so it is important to share with the world the damage done, so it will never happen again, then they will not have died in vain, but for the greater good of all humanity.

Living in fear we are ‘lost,’ as we are not being our true selves – Divinely Powerful Beings of Love – becoming Awakened is realising there is nothing to fear, and as Awakened Souls in Unity we will change our world and never be pulled into the overpowering density of negativity again.

About This Poem

I don’t actually know this hymn, but after working on a couple of my favourites for my series of poems ‘Affirming The Classics,‘ I read through some hymns and this one stood out to me as one I would like to tweak to make it more positive and as an affirmation.

Original Hymn…

Holy Spirit, truth Divine
Dawn upon this soul of mine
Word of God, and inward light
Wake my spirit, clear my sight

Holy Spirit, love Divine
Glow within this heart of mine
Kindle every high desire
Perish self in Thy pure fire

Holy Spirit, power Divine
Fill and nerve this will of mine
By Thee may I strongly live
Bravely bear, and nobly strive

Holy Spirit, right Divine
King with my conscience reign
Be my Lord, and I shall be
Firmly bound, for ever free

Holy Spirit, peace Divine
Still this restless heart of mine
Speak to calm this tossing sea
Stayed in Thy tranquillity

Holy Spirit, joy Divine
Gladden Thou this heart of mine
In the desert ways I’ll sing
Spring, O Well, for ever spring
(Samual Longfellow 1819 – 1892)

About This Poem/Prayer

(In my series of Affirming The Classics I aim to re-write well-known poems to take out any negativity in them and turn them into affirmations.)

Although I have never been a very regular ‘church goer,’ I was brought up in a generation where all children learned The Lord’s Prayer at school, and so whenever it comes up at Weddings, Christenings and Funerals the words have always easily come to my mind.

In my childhood, and occasionally as a younger adult. I went to Christian church services, but I have always found them much too negative. In the 90’s I began to go to a Christian Spiritualist church (and continued on-and-off for several years) where I enjoyed the service because there was hardly any negativity. However, the one thing that they did do, that I considered contained negativity, was saying The Lord’s Prayer.

To me the words of the original prayer are negative because we are giving away our power, which although it is to God, it is saying that we have no choice. I have never liked saying the part about temptation and evil, as just speaking these words seemed wrong to me in a prayer that is supposed to have been said by Jesus.

I wrote my version at the end of March, but, I have not felt the need to share it, and I was beginning to wonder why. I have noticed that when I hang on to a new poem it’s usually because I need to change something about it, or there is Divine Timing at play. This one seems to be both! Trying to keep at least some of the original prayer in the words, I had started it with ‘Our Father’ which, although I do not perceive God as only masculine, I thought at least it began in the traditional way.

About a week ago a book kept coming to my attention in various ways, I was beginning to wonder if it was a sign I should read it, then it appeared at a reduced price, giving me the extra push, and so I bought it and began to read. I have not yet finished, but while reading I knew I had to change the beginning of this prayer!

I have known for many years that the Bible is not complete and was thoroughly edited. I had also discovered and believed in the stories of Mary Magdalene being the loving companion/partner or wife of Jesus. But, if it had not been for the consistent ‘signs’ I would not have got the book – Mary Magdalene Revealed: The First Apostle, Her Feminist Gospel & The Christianity We Haven’t Tried Yet by Meggan Watterson

Along with my inner-knowing of the truth in this book, I also had a meditation experience a week or so before I started to read that had an amazing link with this book. I will write more about this at another time, especially as I haven’t finished the book yet.

Another interesting link has been to do with the making of the picture below. I worked on this yesterday and found I was definitely drawn to the pink/red background, but thinking it was too feminine for this prayer I tried other colours, but none seemed right to me. So I stuck with it. Today I uploaded the image to this post and noticed a block of white on the border, so I went back to re-do the picture. I had the main part in a rectangular block and however much I reduced the corners and then exported the picture, extra white blocks would appear in the exported picture that were not in the original. This has never happened before! I then made it into the oval shape that fitted to the words and the blocks were gone!!! The result, I believe, is now a balance of masculine and feminine energy with the straight and curved lines, along with the feminine colour balancing the masculine energy of the original prayer…

Our Father
Who art in Heaven
Hallowed be Thy name
Thy kingdom come
They will be done
On Earth as it is in Heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil
For Thine is the kingdom
The power and the glory
For ever and ever
Amen

The Lord's Prayer: In Oneness by Trina Graves - Spiritual Quotes To Live By

Update 25th May 2023 – The Great Awakening

I believe the words of my adaptation of The Lord’s Prayer are empowering as we make the transition to our New Earth of Love. Light & Peace. Acknowledging we are a part of God, having Divine Power and freewill to choose our own destiny, by intending and aligning ourselves with Source we will create and manifest our beautiful world of Oneness in Unity consciousness.

Immortal And Visible

Affirming The Classics: Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise
original hymn by Walter Chalmers Smith

Immortal and visible, God is all wise
In Light and accessible before my eyes
Most Blessed, most Glorious, in all of my days
I Am victorious as I follow His ways

Perpetual calmness and silence I find
Freewill acceptance, I’m given my own mind
I climb beautiful mountains high soaring above
And float on the clouds of His Goodness and Love

To all life God gives to both great and the small
In all life He lives, the true life of all
I blossom and flower as leaves on a tree
Eternal in Oneness as God is in me

My Father of Glory, Purity and Light
The Angels adore You, love shining so bright
All round me Your presence, I now clearly see
And Your Light is the Love around and in me

Immortal and visible, God is all wise
In Light and accessible before my eyes
Most Blessed, most Glorious, in all of my days
I Am victorious as I follow His ways

Trina Graves – 11th March 2019

About This Poem

This is another one of my favourite hymns that just needed a little tweaking to make it into more of an affirmation. The original (see below) speaks of the splendour of God’s light being the reason for us not being able to see God, but as more and more of us are Awakening to know we are of the Light, we can perceive the presence of God/Source in all life everywhere.

Although I have kept to the original descriptions of God as Him/His/Father, I do not at all think of God as a male entity.  To me God is just another word for the All-That-Is or Source Energy of which ‘male’ is just one aspect.

Immortal, invisible, God only wise
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes
Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days
Almighty, victorious, Thy great name we praise

Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light
Nor wanting, nor wasting, Thou rulest in might
Thy justice like mountains high soaring above
Thy clouds which are fountains of goodness and love

To all life Thou givest, to both great and small
In all life Thou livest, the true life of all
We blossom and flower as leaves on the tree
And wither and perish, but nought changeth Thee

Great Father of Glory, pure Father of Light
Thine angels adore Thee, all veiling their sight
All laud we would render, O help us to see
‘Tis only the splendour of light hideth Thee

Immortal, invisible, God only wise
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes
Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days
Almighty, victorious, Thy great name we praise
(Walter Chalmers Smith 1824 – 1908)

I Breathe The Breath Of God

Affirming The Classics: Breathe On Me Breathe Of God (hymn)
by Edwin Hatch

I breathe the Breath Of God
I Am filled with life anew
I Am unconditional Love
I do what God would do

I breathe the Breath Of God
My heart is open and pure
I am aligned with God
Now and forever more

I breathe the Breath Of God
I Am a spark of the Divine
This Earthly part of me
Glows as God’s Essence is mine

I breathe the Breath Of God
Through all eternity
I know I shall never die
My Soul is God as me

About This Poem

In the mid-nineties I began to go to various Christian Spiritualist Churches in Oxfordshire. I have mainly gone only occasionally, apart from a few years in the nineties.

The reasons I enjoyed going were:

  • I received an abundance of evidence of life after death. Especially amazing were the many things I was told that I did not know, or had no meaning to me, but later when I spoke to my parents, they would confirm them to be true.
  • I was given many messages that helped me, and because of the undeniable truth of the descriptions given of some of the people on the other side, I followed the advice given which has shaped my path.
  • I found it intriguing to see how different mediums worked and what they had to say, especially in their ‘address’ – a talk before sharing their gift with the congregation.
  • I felt the power of unity and faith when silent prayers of healing were offered to where there were needed.
  • I felt the joy and upliftment from singing positive hymns and songs with others – often with no music.

I didn’t know this hymn before going to Spiritualist Church, but it soon became one of my favourites! As you can see from the original hymn (below) the words were already positive – one of the reasons why I love it. So, I just made it more of an ‘Affirmation.’

Breathe on me, Breath of God
Fill me with life anew
That I may love what Thou dost love
And do what Thou wouldst do

Breathe on me, Breath of God
Until my heart is pure
Until my will is one with Thine
To do and to endure

Breathe on me, Breath of God
Till I am wholly Thine
Until this earthly part of me
Glows with Thy fire divine

Breathe on me, Breath of God
So shall I never die
But live with Thee the perfect life
Of Thine eternity

Update 11th May – The Great Awakening

I believe the largest part of ‘The Great Awakening’ is in acknowledging we are powerful sparks of God. Many of my poems in this category (especially those in more recent years) have some of their focus on the negativity going on, so I also wanted to include some relevant ones that are totally positive affirmations, Desiderata Fulfilled is another.

My Eyes Are Open

Affirming The Classics: Open My Eyes That I May See
Hymn by Clara H. Scott & Frederick P. Morris

My eyes are open, I now see
The Light of truth You share with me
I have in my hands the wonderful key
My heart is open, I Am set free

Silently now I commune with Thee
I Am ready my God, for all to see
My eyes are open, You are in me
Spirit Divine!

My ears are open, I now hear
Voices of truth, pure and clear
Divine Energy speaks in my ear
Messages of love, my way to steer

Silently now I commune with Thee
I Am ready my God, for all to see
My eyes are open, You are in me
Spirit Divine!

I speak my truth and I share
Peace and forgiveness everywhere
My heart is open, I truly care
My unconditional love I lay bare

Silently now I commune with Thee
I Am ready my God, for all to see
My eyes are open, You are in me
Spirit Divine!

My mind is open when I read
Of Your love, it plants a seed
Love and Light are all I need
To blossom, grow, and succeed

Silently now I commune with Thee
I Am ready my God, for all to see
My eyes are open, You are in me
Spirit Divine!

About This Poem

At the moment I have quite a few new poems to add, and I had not made a decision as to which one I would add this weekend. However, this morning I woke in the early hours with this hymn being sung on my mind! There was no reason for this, but trying to get back to sleep it just kept on repeating until I accepted that this was obviously a sign I need to add this poem today! There are certainly other poems I would have chosen to add before this one, but for whatever reason, I now know this had to be the one!

Although the hymn is full of positivity, it is written from an aspect of lack – by asking for something, we are acknowledging that we lack it. So, my version focuses on already having, or being the various aspects – along with an ‘I AM’ to boost the power of creativity!
There is a link page if you would like to read more of my Affirming The Classics.

As you can see, I wrote this in February, but today, as I re-read it, I notice how relevant it seems to so much of what I have been coming across lately..

NOW is the time for us to BE our Divine true selves and to ‘Speak Our Truth’ and shine our Light, Love, Peace and Forgiveness ‘For All To See’

Namaste & the Light of ‘May The Forth be with you!’ 🙂

Original hymn:

Open my eyes that I may see
Glimpses of truth Thou hast for me
Place in my hands the wonderful key
That shall unclasp and set me free

Silently now I wait for Thee
Ready, my God, Thy will to see
Open my eyes, illumine me
Spirit Divine!

Open my ears that I may hear
Voice of truth Thou sendest clear
And while the wave-notes fall on my ear
Everything false will disappear

Silently now I wait for Thee
Ready, my God, Thy will to see
Open my eyes, illumine me
Spirit Divine!

Open my mouth and let me bear
Tidings of mercy everywhere
Open my heart and let me prepare
Love with Thy children thus to share

Silently now I wait for Thee
Ready, my God, Thy will to see
Open my eyes, illumine me
Spirit Divine!

Open my mind, that I may read
More of Thy love in word and deed
What shall I fear while yet Thou dost lead?
Only for light from Thee I plead

Silently now I wait for Thee
Ready, my God, Thy will to see
Open my eyes, illumine me
Spirit Divine!

God Is In Me

Affirming The Classics: God Be In My Head – Book Of Hours

God is in my head
     And in my understanding

God is in my eyes
     And in my looking

God is in my mouth
     And in my speaking

God is in my heart
     And in my thinking

God is United with me
     In Eternal Oneness

About This Poem

I have always loved this simple poem/prayer that was written over 500 years ago! It is also known as The Sarum Prayer or Sarum Primer, and a hymn.

This was obviously a very easy one to update into an affirmation, just acknowledging the presence of God instead of asking, not using ‘mine’ as it would not be the way we would use that word nowadays, and confirming there is no ‘end’ or departing.. just eternal Oneness.

The original prayer:

God Be In My Head
And In My Understanding
God Be In Mine Eyes
And In My Looking
God Be In My Mouth
And In My Speaking
God Be At Mine End
And At My Departing
(Book Of Hours)

My Footprints In The Sand

Affirming The Classics: based on Footprints In The Sand (author unknown)

One night I had a dream.
I dreamed I was walking along a beach with the Lord.
Across the sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand;
one belonging to me, and the other to the Lord.

When the last scene of my life flashed before me
I looked back at the footprints in the sand
I noticed that sometimes along the path of my life
there was only one set of footprints.

Then I realized that it was when I moved closer to the Lord
and our footsteps combined, that I was happier.
These were the times in my life I felt an abundance of love, gratitude and peace.

The Lord said to me:
“You are my beloved, precious child of the Light.
I Am with you now and forever,
but you always have freewill to follow your own path.

My footprints are there beside you, to guide you, if you choose.
No matter what, I will always love you unconditionally.

About This Poem

My last post Footprints Of Light was my first poem of Affirming The Classic of Footprints In The Sand. In the ‘About’ section of the post I told of my experience in having a new vision of Footprints. As I was writing it, I also knew I would be doing this version, which is very much closer to the original.

As I said previously – The original Footprints poem depicts our helplessness in facing the struggles of life, we are picked up and carried by the Lord to see us through. But, we are now stronger and no longer need to be carried. Instead we are now able to accept our Divinity and walk alongside His footsteps, using our freewill to consciously walk in His way.

And of course, however we chose to live our lives, we are eternally loved unconditionally.

Update: Although this poem is very close to the original, it was only re-written due to a vision I had, so I have included it with my other poems of these experiences. Footprints Of Light

My Vision – 3rd February 2019
Affirming The Classics: Footprints In The Sand

I walked with my friend Jesus beside the sea
Knowing that with me He would always be
I was on the damp, dense sand of the Earth
He on soft, light and golden, with me since birth

We turned to look at the footprints we’d made
But only one set could I see out there laid
Weaving in and out of the waves of the sea
At various depths were the footprints of me

I recalled and went to a time in my past
Heavy-hearted, my feet sinking fast
Into the sea of life I’d gone too deep
But near to me Jesus would always keep

Looking back at our footprints I now saw
Rays of Light I did not notice there before
Straight and True His prints were of the Light
A way to Be, His Loving Path shined so bright

Then I noticed the more delicate steps of mine
Were as I moved closer and I did combine
My own path with the Light of His Way
On soft, golden sands with Him I now stay

One more lesson His Footprints came to tell
Gratitude to Mother Earth and to keep her well
He left no imprint, only Blessings of Light
My Inner Being knows this vision to be right

About This Poem

When I began this series of re-writing my favourite inspirational poems to change them into Affirmations, Footprints In The Sand was one of the first I looked at to work on. It has always been one of my favourite poems but as I read it, even though I could see that it had some negative aspects I couldn’t see how I could change it, so I let it go.

However, it seems that was not meant to be! And by sharing with you the following I am taking (for me) a monumental step forward! But, I know I need to do this, to ‘Speak My Truth and share the Light.

For many years I have visualized meeting a ‘guide’ of mine called James on a beach (and eventually other places) to ask questions and receive guidance. My very first meeting (in 1999) I eventually made into a poem: Insight where you can read the story of what happened. Back then I thought it was a strange imaginary experience, I wrote it down and put it away (for many years). One day I came across the poem and was astonished as I finally saw the significance and from then onwards I would visit when I felt the need.

Over the past year or so I have not done the visualization very often, and more recently I always found I was struggling with where to meet! Nothing seemed to easily flow so I would give up, knowing that if it’s not flowing, it’s not right.

In January, a few days before my birthday, I watched a channelling done by Amanda Ellis of Michael Jackson. Amanda had said that there would be inner-child healing done during the channelling and I certainly felt something shift. Before it started I felt drawn to pick up a rose quartz crystal and, without giving it any thought, I held it against my heart all the way through the two hour video. As the link with Michael came to an end he said that one of the easiest ways for anyone to link with him was by holding a rose quartz crystal as it opens the heart! I was totally amazed!!! To me, this proved I was meant to watch this and that it was of the truth.

Over the next couple of days I certainly felt as though something had happened, I couldn’t put it into words, but there was definitely something ‘healed.’ And I also noticed synchronistic things happening very quickly towards further healing.

I’m not sure if it was this video, or in another where Amanda was talking about Michael, but he had said to do something we liked doing as a child. I gave this some thought and a memory of sitting in an Abbey that was next door to my primary school came to me. I especially used to love it at Christmas time when we would go there and sing Christmas carols, and I would gaze at the magnificent stained glass windows. I then thought it would be a wonderful place to meet James, so I visited him there a couple of times before what happened next.

In the very early hours of my birthday, – there is an extremely important significance to it being my birthday, but I can’t go into that as it is not my story to tell – I awoke and could not get back to sleep. I decided to pay a visit to Dorchester Abbey and meet James. As I walked down the aisle I could see him seated at the front waiting for me. As I approached him he sprang up out of the pew and stood before me in the centre, arms outstretched, surrounded by Light and in that moment I knew he was not James, but Jesus. At that moment a multitude of thoughts all happened at once: I was shocked, but then not, as I remembered many times when I had wondered if James was not who he said, because he seemed like Jesus – in Energy and image – and then thoughts such as  ‘Am I just imagining this because I’ve wondered before?’ then the doubt really swept in.. and it wasn’t long before I let go of the visualizing, with thoughts of ‘my delusions of grandeur.’

I must have put all this to the back of my mind because it didn’t re-surface until I was emailing Amira (BodyAndSoulNourishmentBlog), and over the course of many days the memory and all my doubts were brought to the surface, and then something synchronistic would happen to explain why I was doubting. This happened all so miraculously and would take a long time to explain, but my on-going journey of discovery was manifested largely triggered through emails with Amira. I was shown that ‘James’ had not revealed who he truly was because I was not ready to accept this, and I would not have returned to continue our meetings as I felt I was not worthy. By coming to me as ‘James’ I could accept him as a friend first.

The way in which all this has unfolded has been very convincing proof of it’s truth, but in all honesty I am still not quite there yet on 100% Being this truth. My biggest doubt has been ‘Why do I not feel a much stronger Energy when I am ‘talking’ with Him?’  The answer I got is that I have raised my energy enough to not feel a greater difference and because we have been meeting as ‘friends’ for so many years. (more to this later, but I am leaving this writing chronologically as the experiences happened and also not editing this earlier writing.)

Getting back to this poem.
As I worked my way through the doubts I hesitantly visited the Abbey to meet with Jesus. It was only a short ‘visit’ as we looked at, and talked about the stained glass windows. But the next time I went to visit we were instead back on the beach and I asked if He had any ‘story messages’ to tell me (as before when I met ‘James’). This poem is what happened next, and I of course realized it was a new telling of Footprints In The Sand. The poem I thought would not be done! Interestingly, when I wrote the poem, a week or so later, I was stuck for the last line, apart from knowing the last word (to rhyme with Light) was ‘right.’ It then came to me that it was not to be part of the story, but an affirmation for me to accept it.

After writing this poem of my vision I also wrote another sticking much more to the original Footprints, but also combining it with this one to turn it into more of an affirmation.  ‘My Footprints In The Sand’

Affirming The Classics: Footprints Of Light by Trina Graves - Spiritual Quotes To Live By

I have had this post drafted and ready to add for a few weeks. Since that time I have had another realization to do with my doubts of this experience. Back in December I wrote a poem called ‘Jesus: The Christ‘ if you read the poem and what I wrote about it you can see that (1) It is all about the names of Jesus. (2) It was written without the intention of being all about His names. (3) I started with a list of His names intending to just use a few, but used them all. (4) The poem flowed easily to use not only all of the names, but also why He came, which includes being a guide for you and me. (5) Before I started writing the poem I asked for help from Jesus (this was the first time I had done this when writing) and I immediately felt an emotional response which I blocked!!!

I had forgotten about this poem, and now I can easily see the significance that only a few weeks before this experience I had written all about His many names, so why not James? And one of my biggest doubts was because I did not feel the emotional response I thought I should. And now I read my own words telling me I blocked it! Wow!!!

9th March 2019
All of the above was written before today, and although some of it is mentioned in my last post I have left this as I originally wrote it, which was mostly almost a month ago. When I did write it, I knew I was not ready to share this story (except with Amira) so as other poems were written, I thankfully posted them before this one! But, as I always know – Everything Happens For A Reason – and in those few weeks I have not only had more clarification in the truth of it, but I also have come to know that NOW is the time to speak our truth and stand steadfast in our Light for all to see. I Am ready!

Mostly from my own experiences, but also from the videos I have been led to watch lately, I believe that Jesus is available to us all, with no limits of our religion or worthiness etc.. We need to let go of the past history and conditioning of perceiving him as a Deity on High and accept him as a brother or friend to us all. Humanity and the world has changed so much since Jesus walked the Earth over two thousand years ago. Everything is always expanding and growing, so the Jesus of then is not the Jesus of now! His teachings would of course remain at their core the same, but they would be expanded upon and taught differently to those of the past.

The original Footprints poem depicts our helplessness in facing the struggles of life, we are picked up and carried by the Lord to see us through. But, we are now stronger and no longer need to be carried. Instead we are now able to accept our Divinity and walk alongside His footsteps, using our freewill to consciously walk in His way… making our own Footprints Of Light.

Just before I sat to write this last part today, it came to me that my experiences of these visualizations over the years are not just for me! So I believe I am going to be writing some more poems on the ones from my past, and whatever comes in the future!

Namaste

Update: I do now have more poems of these experiences, which I have brought together on a link page: Visions. There is also a link page for more: Affirming The Classics.

Desiderata Fulfilled

Affirming The Classics: based on Desiderata by Max Ehrmann

Wherever I Am, I remain calm and tranquil.
I Am always at peace in the silence of my heart.
I accept all people just as they are.
My Unconditional Love and Light flows in Oneness.

I speak my truth clearly with an open heart.
I listen attentively to all the people I meet…
We exchange our stories and always learn something from the experience.
My energy of Love and Light attracts only those on the same vibrational path.
I appreciate those I perceive as having more of whatever focus I Am placing…
Their Light shines before me, as I also shine my Light for others.

I enjoy my achievements and my plans.
I know everything always works out for my highest good.
I follow my passions, so I Am guided to live in abundance, truth and joy…
Working alongside others who walk the same path.
I thank and Bless all those who inspire, in all the diversities of life.

I Am a Divine Being of Love and Light
I see this in Everyone and Everything, as Love is All-That-Is

I gracefully change through the moments, days and years.
I let go, and let God nurture me in strength of Spirit.
I Am of the Light, therefore darkness is an illusion.
We are all One, so loneliness is an illusion.
I Am kind, gentle and loving with myself, and all others.

I Am a child of the Divine Universe.
I Am as needed and precious as the trees on Earth and the Cosmos of stars.
The Universe continually unfolds and expands for the Highest Good of The-All.

I Am at peace with my own connection and perception of God.
I Am contented knowing others will always have their own perceptions.
I Am truly at peace in the Inner-Knowing and stillness of my Divine Soul.

My powerful thoughts and beliefs create my world.
I Am living in a beautiful world of Love, Light, Wonder and Miracles.
I Am perpetually happy, because no matter what: ALL IS WELL.

Trina Graves – 2nd February 2019

About This Poem

Incase you haven’t read my recent posts, I am re-writing some of my favourite classic inspirational poems to make them into Affirmations.

I first heard the words of Desiderata in 1972 when I was eleven. The song by Les Crane was in the UK charts, so for several weeks it was being played often on the radio. I really loved some of the words and they stuck with me through my life, so when I began to collect inspirational quotes and poems in the early 90’s, this was one of the first I searched for. Although I always liked the poem, it never completely felt right to me. It was when I learned of the Law of Attraction that I discovered why: so much of it is negatively focused. Here is the original poem by Max Ehrmann with the two parts I always remembered in bold…

Go placidly amid the noise and haste and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others – even the dull and ignorant – they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble, it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is, many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the Universe, no less than the trees and the stars, you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the Universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore, be at peace with your God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labours and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace with your Soul.

With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy.
Max Ehrmann

I’m fascinated now thinking back (as I write this), I can see that the words I remembered have shaped my life…

Go placidly amid the noise and haste” Throughout my adult years, I have been told by many different people that I have a calming presence “and remember what peace there may be in silence.”  I have always enjoyed the silence of being alone.

“You are a child of the Universe, no less than the trees and the stars, you have a right to be here.” In more recent years I have come to discover that not feeling ‘worthy’ has been a negative trait that has run through my whole life. I believe I clung to these words as they helped me to feel better about myself. But also, even before I heard these words, I had began to be drawn towards certain trees. In later years my love of trees grew and also my awe of the overwhelming magnitude of a sky full of stars, with all it’s potential!

“And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the Universe is unfolding as it should.” It was to be many years before I truly understood these words. The Law Of Attraction and that no matter what happens in our lives – All Is Well – are now two very important parts of my passion in writing to inspire others.

Did I attract those traits from the words impregnated in my mind? Or, was I attracted to them (to be installed) because they were a part of who I was destined to become? It seems to me to be like the ‘chicken and egg’ question!

Update 10th May 2023 – The Great Awakening

Desiderata means things that are desired/wanted, so I named my version Desiderata Fulfilled as an affirmation of achieving these things. I am adding this poem to my new category of ‘The Great Awakening.’ as I believe these are the desires for a world of Love and Peace, by focusing on them as affirmations gives them greater power, as the ‘I AM’ acknowledges the God/Source power within us.

At this difficult time, with so much negativity going on, it is so very important to keep our vibrations as high as possible, which I believe this poem aides. It certainly helps me to feel positive!

I Am A Channel Of Your Peace

Affirming The Classics – pure version: Make Me A Channel Of Your Peace by St Francis of Assisi

I Am a channel of Your Peace
I bring Your Love
I bring Your Pardon
I bring true Faith in You

I Am a channel of Your Peace
I bring Hope
I bring only Light
I always bring Joy

O Master, with You I seek..
To Console
To Understand
To Love with all my Soul

I Am a channel of Your Peace
I forgive and I am forgiven
I give to all and I receive
We are One in Eternal Life

Trina Graves – 18th January 2018

About This Poem

As mentioned in my last post: ‘I Am A Channel Of Your Love, Light & Peace,’   this was my first re-write ‘Affirming The Classics’ of the well-known prayer of St Francis of Assisi. The idea of this series is to bring the wonderful inspirational poems, written many years ago, up-to-date and turn them into ‘Affirmations’ for those of us who acknowledge we create our own reality, and therefore want to focus on positivity, and to proclaim our own power of Divinity.

You can see I stuck much more to the original words of St Francis (below) mostly just taking out the negativity. I recently sent the poem to my truly, helpful friend Amira from BodyAndSoulNourishmentBlog and loved her comment back to me:

“It is so pure and spiritual, and almost child-like, light and sweet… it’s a gem!”

Which describes it so much more eloquently than my odd description I used on the other post! I personally prefer the other re-write, but I know we are all drawn to different things along our path, so some people will prefer this simpler, pure version.

I think what stood out to me about Make Me A Channel Of Your Peace by St Francis is that, as beautiful and aspiring as it is, it is basically a plea asking God (or whoever you are praying to) to give us these qualities. Whereas I hope my versions convey that we already possess these things, we just have to BE them.

For these ‘Affirming The Classics’ (there will be more) I also include the original poems to acknowledge and share their full wisdom.

Make me a channel of your peace
Where there is hatred let me bring your love
Where there is injury, your pardon Lord
And where there’s doubt, true faith in You.

Make me a channel of your peace
Where there’s despair in life let me bring hope
Where there is darkness, only light
And where there’s sadness ever joy

O Master grant that I may never seek
So much to be consoled as to console
To be understood as to understand
To be loved as to love with all my Soul

Make me a channel of your peace
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned
It is in giving to all men that we receive
And in dying that we are born to eternal life
St Francis of Assisi

Trina Graves – 28th January 2019

About This Poem

I have always loved the original poem by St Francis:

Make me a channel of your peace
Where there is hatred let me bring your love
Where there is injury, your pardon Lord
And where there’s doubt, true faith in You.

Make me a channel of your peace
Where there’s despair in life let me bring hope
Where there is darkness, only light
And where there’s sadness ever joy

O Master grant that I may never seek
So much to be consoled as to console
To be understood as to understand
To be loved as to love with all my Soul

Make me a channel of your peace
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned
It is in giving to all men that we receive
And in dying that we are born to eternal life

It is amazing to think that these beautiful words were written so long ago (St Francis 1181 – 1226) but are still so relevant in the world we live in today.

This poem is the only one I have in clear view at my desk, to remind me of how I want to live my life. But, in recent times, when I read it, I notice that although it speaks so clearly of the qualities I desire, and of how the powerful Law of Attraction works, it doesn’t ‘affirm’ these things. The negative aspects are mentioned and it is written as a plea of something to achieve, rather than an ‘Affirmation of Being.’

I had been thinking of doing some Affirmation re-writes on some of my favourite poems for quite awhile now. The other day in my notebook I found a simpler version of this one, written in January 2018, that I’d forgotten about (I will add this soon). But when I read it through I thought it was too wishy-washy and I wanted to bring more depth of meaning and to convey our own personal connection with whoever we are praying to. (God, Spirit, Jesus etc..)

Looking at these two re-writes I can see the growth I have made in a year.  In the first I tried to stick clearly to the original with simply affirming the statements. My insecure thoughts were: Who am I to think I should re-write such a renowned inspirational poem? Which is probably why I never did anything with it, or have a go at re-writing any more.

But now, I feel more powerfully in alignment with Source to be able to proclaim these words, knowing I create my world with my thoughts and beliefs. I no longer just wish to achieve these goals of love, forgiveness, faith, hope, light, joy, understanding, and of course, peace, but instead I chose to consistently affirm my eternal connection and BE these attributes.

By the way, the poem may seem a little repetitive with lots of  – ‘I Am’s – but this is for a reason: I AM announces the presence of God within
